A little side-step from the varmint & excavation talk:
I have a pretty old offset-head hatchet that's been my go-to for debarking my firewood. It probably had a crack in the head when I bought it but I've just noticed it more recently. I feel like this is so old that trying to weld it back together will be a fool's errand.
I'd appreciate your thoughts
I'd grind it out and weld it, have done similar to axes and hatchets over the years.
They said the gun was a 3d printer job.
even if it was it wouldn't have been very accurate or lasted very long. There are quite a few short comings in 3d printing parts that see excessive heat and pressure. One of the many reasons I haven't bothered to attempt it myself.

His pistol was for a short term life.

Good morning. Unseasonably warm temps this weekend followed by rain and now sleet. The roads are messy but not slippery at the moment.
The roads were slick last night around 10… traction control kicked in at every intersection. I kept off the brakes and drove with the gas pedal so the ABS didn’t kick in. This morning it was still slick but is now melting off and raining. Going into the 50s tomorrow… Not sure I like this weather!

It's pretty mild for the time of the year here too, 7-9°C (about 44-48°F) here today and they predict temps to rise to 12-13 (about 54F). But also quite windy and a lot of rain... meh. I definitely prefer colder temps with less wind/rain. Like those nice winter days with a bright blue sky.
We did have some snow a few weeks ago, but it melted in a day or two.

We had the freezing rain/sleet/fog crap Saturday afternoon/evening into early Sunday morning. Although it did get and stay above freezing (mid-upper 30's) and the roads were treated yesterday, the truck did get a little squirrelly this morning from some refreeze on the roads in spots.

My morning….

Not sure if I’ve told you fellas, I’m over this snow

Couple more years and my little one will be outta college (6 years) and it’s time to move south!!!View attachment 1226728
I know where there is a prime lot on Treasure Island, FL… A new house built to current code would be a great place to live. 😉

I spent a couple days in Orlando last week. It was nice for a visit, but I couldn't live there permanent.

But the insurance on a home there is crazy expensive if you can even obtain it without going through the state insurance which is even more expensive . I looked into moving to FL a few years ago numbers didn’t work for me . Specially now that I don’t have to go out in the winter if I choose not to

I’ve been in FL in August I’d rather deal with a blizzard here thank you

I may just go a few months in the motorhome be a snow bird . My mom and dad did that went after Christmas came back in April

Yup… homeowners, flood and hurricane insurance add up. It ran about $20K/year on the existing house… a house that now either has to be torn down and replaced or rebuilt to meet current code.

I spent a couple months riding my bicycle all over FL… My favorites were the Everglades and Keys but I wouldn’t want to live there. I like the Catskills… they’d be even better colored Red.

I wish we had snow like that! I miss real winters like we used to have.

It all depens on where you're from, I guess :)
I can imagine having your outside equipment frozen, and potentially having to move snow before you can exit your driveway, can become somewhat of a nuisance.
For me, snow is a nice thing too, but I live in a moderate climate zone, so we never get winter 'extremes'. Summer temps have been steadily rising though, last years, with an increasing occurence of heat waves.

It can become a nuisance. However, I hate dirty, muddy boots and paws dragging crap into the house when there's no snow.
Freeze and thaw weather is the worst. I wish it would get cold and stay there.
Yeah it's not good for anything.
Too populated.
Dang right...I'm liking people less the older I get.
