Got down to -20° here. Warmed all the way up to -19° so far.Baby it's cold outside. At 6am this morning in central MA.
It’s a little after 8 AM here and it has warmed up 1° F to 4° F… This polar vortex thing is a rare case of the forecast being right!Baby it's cold outside. At 6am this morning in central MA.
That's hilarious! She loves to eat Bambi
That's awesome.Winters have been mild here the last few years in South Eastern Pennsylvania but happy to have taken my daughters out sledding today. Four inches or so of light, fluffy snow.
Loving every minute of this while my girls are still young.

Gonna be breaking out the shorts and hoodies .-11 at home and -23 at our cabin up north. It should be mid twenties by the end of the the week. That's gonna feel warm!
-1* here right now, my woodshop has a woodstove in it, but I never go out there when it's real cold...Quite the warmup.
Gonna be breaking out the shorts and hoodies .
I had the upper portion of the barn up to 62 degrees, I was down to a t-shirt working on the bay door. It's probably 20 degrees out there now, 1 degree outside.
What do you guys have in your shops(or where you work) for heaters
Using a 30-70 BTU propane construction type heater, I managed to burn thru about half a 100lb tank over 2/3 days. I did have it on low overnight, but I plan on running something all the time to keep it at 50 during the winter months. I'm considering a radiant tube setup, I already have a furnace I could set up in there too. I wouldn't mind having a wood stove if a deal pops up to help lower the costs of propane. Propane is like $4 something a gallon here just filling the 100lb tank, I think it's just over $2(maybe 2.30) to fill a larger tank, which I could get/do, and probably will.
Are you saying you want me to come remove it for you lol.-1* here right now, my woodshop has a woodstove in it, but I never go out there when it's real cold...

I have a 60k btu unit heater in my shop at home. It heats the 15×30×12 area just fine. I picked a unit heater because of the fast recovery time when bringing a cold car in.Quite the warmup.

Never liked the non vented heaters . They throw a lot of moisture into shop causing condensation. My plan is radiant floor heating in my new shop most likely propane fired . At my mom’s house we installed a hanging hot water heater with a blower on its own circulator . Works rather well .Quite the warmup.

No, but when I get a new one for the basement, you can come remove that old one for me! lolAre you saying you want me to come remove it for you lol.
I need to head up NW of you in the next few weeks(while the ground is frozen), need to drop another good sized white pine. If there are any good logs I may be able to drop them off, depends how it all works out with my tractor/trailer for loading, as I'm only wanting to make one trip up and back with them over the two days. I'm sure you're chomping a the bit to get outside and do some milling right now .
$2.50 gal for propane last I got tanks filled up at my uncles shop. I'm planning on getting one of those cheap wabasto heaters to maintain above freezing in the shop for now. My buddy heater does ok, but the biggest tank I have is 30lb (6 ish gallons) which doesn't last very long, even with the buddy heater running one element. Burn the wood stove after I get home and give the buddy heater a break till morning. So far coldest it's been is 42* when I get home from work. Definatly need to invest in something a bit better for out there, or get a bigger propane tank.Quite the warmup.

$1.89 here. I keep the shop at 50 and warm it up when needed. The most propane I've ever used was 400ish gallons. It's usually around 300 gallons a year.$2.50 gal for propane last I got tanks filled up at my uncles shop. That makes sense since you're pulling cars in and out on a normal basis. I would think most times I was going to pull something in it would be one of three scenarios. One it would go on the lift, and would be a bit higher where it would get warmed a bit quicker with radiant heat and the air up there should be a bit warmer. Two it was getting pulled in to work on it real quick, and we were just needing it out of the weather. Three would be it's coming in, but can wait a bit so it will be warmed up by the time we get to it.I have a 60k btu unit heater in my shop at home. It heats the 15×30×12 area just fine. Would have been nice to have natural gas here. Every street that is connected to ours, and the end of it has it, and our tree isn't but maybe 1.5 miles long . That being said, I wouldn't know any of you fine fellers if we had natural gas and we wouldn't even be having this conversation lol.$1.89 here. I keep the shop at 50 and warm it up when needed. Yeah, it's only for temporary. I have an actual furnace that I'll probably install, already bought it for $100 bucks last summer, it's a high-efficiency power vent style. But I'm not sure it's the best route or one source would be a good idea. The good thing is we have a great power company that's local (literally 1.25 miles NNW from here as the crow flies), and we don't often have outages, so I shouldn't need a wood stove. I've considered an electric water heater set-up for the 12x24 saw shop area, be nice not to have any penetrations thru the walls or the ceiling. I have the wainscoting on the barn, so if I was to install a small mini-split in that area I could go thru down low. It would be sweet to have AC in there. I'd also want at least one good sized electric baseboard heater to use if it was too cold for the mini to work.Never liked the non vented heaters . Oh snap, can we use the skidding winch .No, but when I get a new one for the basement, you can come remove that old one for me! lol
I'm headed SE of here on Friday, to get a load of logs to turn into beams for a guy.
You know I love white pine! lol

One of those would work for my 12x24 shop, but I don't want to support the CCP and I don't want to make the holes in the walls ceiling if I don't have to. The semi I drive has one for the bunk heater, I run it whenever it's cold out, then I only need a little added heat from the trucks heater. It's nice not to have the fan blowing air in you eyes and drying them out, or hot air on the windshield to heat it up and make the snow stick to it, even though I do have heated wipers(hate to use wipers unless I have to). One nice things about those little heaters, is you can get them with a controller. It would be nice to just click the temp up from the house(if it reached), or from the car when you pull in from work.$2.50 gal for propane last I got tanks filled up at my uncles shop.
