Here is what the saw looked like when I picked it up. The chain cover will be blasted tomorrow and painted.
Good saws, my logging buddy has been running them for a few years now. He sure seems to like them. He's broken 4 brake flags this winter though, don't know if it's a him thing or a design issue.

Part of this week's scrounging: Crapsman 1800 watt Genny. The briggs rattley engine does turn over, but I'd guess spending $120 for a Harbor Fright predator engine would be money better spent than buying a carb and air cleaner and trying to resurrect this old briggs. If the predator engine really a lot quieter than a briggs? How easy is the predator to set to 1800 RPM? (I am assuming this would be 1800 rpm, not 3600). I'd assume I'd probably be better off to buy or scrounge a meter to show cycles/sec. at lest for the initial setup.

Its not big enough to run much more than a drill or grinder, but still could be handy in a no-electric situation. I toyed with the idea of buying or scrounging a lawnmower vert. shaft engine and mount it on a 2 wheel cart. That would make it much more portable. It is a heavy little bugger, so probably good copper windings. I do like the muffler setup. It should make the exhaust fairly quiet. But moot point if I use a different engine.

Got the ceiling(and an inch of insulation on top of it) finished in the welding fab area yesterday . Need to get the electrical in, including 20amp outlets and a couple welder outlets.Last week the boy and I got the sub-panel in the wall, so there is power about 2' from this area. Also the lift can be wired up now as well once the sub-panel is wired to the main panel.
Sub-panel. The insulation to the left was covering the opening to the welding/fab area, it's now open. I'll probably put some sort of curtains up to separate it from the main bay, maybe make some out of old tarps.

I'm hoping the cold weather does knock down the ticks. My Golden Retreiver was just diagnosed with Erlichiosis, despite having worn a Soresto flea and tick collar continuously for the last year or so (the ones supposedly good for up to 8 months) and it being well within the date by which it is supposed to be replaced.
