I "usually" skid with my loader tractor, as i can get them off the ground ASAP with it... If needed, i do have a 450 crawler i can skid with too...

Once i get it out where i can "grabble" it, i do so...

And load it on my wagon running gear... My loader is rated for over 3,600 pounds, so most logs aren't a problem...

The running gear is rated for 5 tons, but in this case, i'm off to the mill with just one log on it...

Once at the mill, i load the log and start sawing it into what ever is on my customers "materials list"...

And once it's sawn, i can deliver it, or set it aside to be picked up by the customer...

Many times i go back and saw out all of the firewood and short logs too...

Skidding

nope..sure isn't...and with a good operator it is amazing what these things will do:jawdrop:
Skidders are great machines they move alot of wood in a hurry. We have a 2003 540giii john deere it's been good so far it's our first skidder . For the really rough stuff we have 650j john deere cat with a winch and log arch it works really god for skidding too.
The cat has gotten the skidder out of more than one bad spot. my dad never owned a skidder only cats for skidding so i guess that is why we like to have one around.
