The 4-mix Stihl units run on 50:1 fuel mix, they are a hybrid engine and not a true four stroke.
Stick with the Stihl.
The Echo quality keeps going downhill. What would you expect from someone selling out to the mass retailers. Same thing that happened to the rest.

Your such a meanie,LOL

what might the differences be in the stihl 90 an the fs100rx i noticed the price was only 30.00 more than the 90?
nate

The FS90 carries a 28cc engine, solid steel drive shaft and heavy duty gear head. You can put attachments on the FS90 such as a edger head, prunner head, hedgetrimmer head. In fact there are many attachments you can run on the FS90 other than just the trimmer head.

The FS100 carries a 31cc motor, lightweight hollow driveshaft, lightweight gearhead and guard and a light weight handle to boot. This unit is designed as a lightweight grass eating machine. Its designed to have alot of power and not alot of weight. Its not meant as a double duty machine, its meant for grass cutting with alot of power and less weight than the standard trimmers. Landscapers love this machine. Its fast, powerful and light. Tall grass doesn't bother this thing like it may with a FS90 due to the bigger engine on it. If your just cutting grass, be short or tall, heavy or thick, and thats all your going to do the FS100 is a dream machine.

Don't insult your dealer by trying to get a better price. Be a man and pay what it's listed at.

Don't waste your time on the Echo. They are pretty much junk. They run extremely hot and are underpowered especially for the weight. Too many people burn their's up. With so many ignorant users out there, they use cheap Echo oil or an equivelant from Home Depot at incorrent ratios and wrong spark plugs that accelerate the death of the poor design of their engines. Even when ran properly they suck. The Echo's of the past were built well but Echo of today can't keep up with the EPA standards very well. For Trimmers, I'd stick with Shindaiwa and STIHL. Kawasaki? Heh, their engines are underpowered as well and their build quality of gearhead and everything else is sub par, that's why their products are inexpensive, relatively.

.

Yes they are, they have a true 4 strokes per cycle. Know your product man! :hmm3grin2orange:

Really, oiling has nothing to do with stroking. A more reasonable thing to say would be they are not oiled like a conventional 4 stroke lawn mower is oiled.

Bull crap. Echo still makes one of the better trimmers out there. Furthermore, Echo oil is a top performing 2 stroke oil--better than Stihl and Husky's low end oils.

Echo line trimmers are on pretty much every landscaper trailer i've seen in the past few years. I've had mine for 5 years and it runs well, starts in a few pulls-choke w/ false start, then two pulss-vroom, plus parts availabilty on the internet or my local dealer (NOT HD). Plenty of power, too. Are there any true 4 strokers out there?

That's a load! lmao

What low end oil does Stihl and Husky have? They have XP, HP, HP Super, HP Ultra. They are all better than Echo, way better. There's documented facts showing test result comparisons. And yes, they were done by Stihl, but if there were any false information or doctoring, you can bet any of the OEM's listed on that test would be quick to file a lawsuit. None of them have, why? Because it's the truth! Even some Echo reps acknowledge this. Echo oil is JUNK! If you don't believe, then so be it. No lost sleep here.

Echo oil is a top performing 2 stroke oil--better than Stihl and Husky's low end oils. Your entire post was speculation and conjecture

Conjecture? Hypocrite. My evidence is all over the internet if you search for the information. It's documented. Echo oil is inferior to HP which is the cheapest Stihl oil.

It seems you like to troll. Reading some of your worthless threads and posts, you are the one trying to spread propaganda.

I'm a Stihl man and I have to call you out on this one.

I ran a SRM 2100 to death, took 8 years of commercial use, never changed the spark plug or the air filter until I noticed the piston scored. That was from operator error. However that machine still ran great even with a scored piston and the machine is fixable, but at $150 for parts - not feasible. It was a great little trimming machine for what it was. The only complaint that I have about it is that I couldn't let it roll around in the truck bed - not quite durable enough - but restrained it did fine. Other than that - they will take the abuse.

There also the most popular brand around here for mowing services.

I'd fix mine if I could find a cheap P+C.

Fs100rx

I've got lots of hours on my FS100RX and love it. Have not tried other trimmer brands, but I do have the Stihl 2-stroke Pro series power heads on my other equipment like you find on the FS80. I like the 4-mix.

FlimFlam, i dont have a lot of post here but i have used the net and can recognize different types of posters usually from their first post. i apprecitate yours and all the other opinions on my questions. saying that, your original post does seem a bit "FlimFlamatory" :biggrinbounce2:

Yes there are! I have (well it actualy belongs to my girlfreind) a nice Honda 25ccm 4stroke trimmer/bruschcutter, that I bought for my girlfriend. Straight gas so no mixing for her and so easy to start I was truely shocked. Its not the power model but its great for her!! Around the garden either with blade or string as she likes.
