I was driving home from work today and noticed a garage sale as I drove by I saw a saw sitting on a table in front of the house. After making a illegal U turn and driving over the median. I took a look at it it was a Solo 645 I know nothing about them and the women at the home said they have had it out the last few sales and nobody was interested. They could not tell me much about the saw other than they used it a few times to cut down some big poplar and only wanted $50 bucks for it. It looks like new! So my Question how good are Solo saws and should I buy? I told them I will be back tomorrow I will buy it anyway but has anyone herd of a Solo 645 I will look it up and see what the specs are my guess it is around 40cc but it looks very good quality.

I don't know anything about the 645, but I have an old Solo 642 (106cc). Heck of a good saw if you're man enough to pack it around all day.
I have a few friends with Solo 690 race saws, they are hard to beat.
Well, that's about the extent of my knowledge.

Thank's too bad it is 45cc eh. But should make a great firewood saw. I will pick it up tomorrow as I just called them and they did not sell it. And for $50 bucks you can't go wrong!

Austin1 , I bought my Bailey's B45 (Solo 645) 40 months ago and it's a good little saw . Mine cost $209.95 on sale .
Great to know I see the one I was looking at had .325 pitch chain on it. And it was not dull so I think they hardly used the saw.
I will get it first thing tomorrow morning and hopefully try it by Wednesday. Not that I need another saw I just need a saw fix right now:D And I can't pass up a good deal!!!

Austin1 , mine came with Oregon 95VP narrow kerf chain and a Micro Lite bar . The muffler outlet is reasonable and is better if you take off the external spark arrestor screen .

Austin, for $50, go ahead and grab it. 639/645 Solo's are definately consumer construction, (plastic), but they run pretty good. Very easy to start with the primer. The throttle link can be a pain if you push and pull when cutting. Sounds like a good buy, especially with low hours.

I recently bought a Solo 636 Magnum on closeout from my local hardware. I found out after some research and help from site members here that it is a rebadged 645.

Yes, It has a plastic crankcase, but compared to other saws in the price range (around $200) I couldn't find a better saw. I have been very happy with its performance so far.

I will echo what others have said. Solo is a great saw with an unfortuneately weak dealer system in the US. Parts availability is no problem, you can just call Solo or check out their website. They sell direct.

I don't think you can go wrong at 50$

I just came home with my new little saw runs great! It does have the .325 narrow kurff chain on it. I will get a couple loops of the Woodsman pro chain from Bailey's and some files and should be set.:chainsaw:
