If you get up this way we should meet up. I live right on the "Beautiful Rockbound
Coast of Maine" Right in the middle of a number of "destination areas". That may be the only way I get to try some of those renowned stuffed peppers. I'll supply the "bugs" translation--Lobsters!! We'll stay in touch for sure.!!:cheers:

Hey Robin, More like, WHEN I get up there! Last time I was there I stayed at Hermit Island in Casco Bay. Probably not there anymore but the cabin had a nickname----"The Sou'wester". Had a great time and main(e) memories are: relentless Black flies, very persistent raccoons, scrumptous Haddock and red-skinned potatoes, and an ocean breeze to die for. Is that big sign still there on I-95 at the state line that reads "MAINE- The Way Life Should Be"? Spending a few vacations there I would have to agree. BTW, all the saw guys I know in Jersey refer to the State not as Maine, but Jonsered Country!
Stuffed Peppers...I see no reason why I can't set you up with some. Working for USPS has its advantages. I am pretty familiar with shipping times and routes and could easily freeze some and Express them to you. Believe me, it has been done many times:biggrinbounce2:

We will certainly be in touch and take care.

Further Up!!----Down East!!

I'm a ways further up the coast, just a wee bit south of the Bar Harbor area and we have all the things you remember, especially the blackflies!!

I'm quite sure the sign is still there!!

Jonsereds Country!! HAHAHA!! They were very popular here before they merged and started using plastic and building saws that would not take the same abuse and neglect as the old ones. Then Sthil and Husky beat them out. In the late eighties dealers were dropping like flies or turned to selling the OTHERS to stay in business. Sad. Good saws IMHO anyway.

Have fun this weekend and let me know when you get the urge to express a batch of those peppers. I'll PM you my top secret usps address. shhhhh!!!

Bringing a Stock TW2HD with a 4 way that is sold. Have room for more?? TW6LL??, TW5LL, TW5 stock, TW2 or TWP1 cant fit them all but prolly can bring 3 or 4 in my 28' enclosed trailer?? if anyone is interested..

Scott

Boy, that ought to go over real well with the neighbors down the road. LOL

(That joke will be explained in person to you guys on Sunday)

I'm still in. And a list of saws i will have with me.

Mcculloch SP125C, 797, 797G
Dolmar 166, 116SI, 120SI
Homelite 2000
Poulan 655BP
Jonsered Racket XF for Jwalker to see
Skil 1690
And maybe a Homelite 3100 Geardrive
if i have time to get it ready.

Lee

That's what we call some large caliber ordinance there. I only have one 100cc saw that qualifies for the big log, a Solo 603. The rest of the list as it stands now is:

Jonsered: 451E, 930Super, 630Super, 2153TST, 621, 52E, 49SP

Husky: 576AT, 372SS, 285CD, 350/46NE, 246, 44, 272XP, 288XP

McCulloch: ProMac 850

What's that, 16? I must be nuts; I gotta make that a little bit smaller.

Plus the Stihl's I mentioned earlier for swap or sale: 031, 041FB, 045

If anybody has a decent 288 tank and top cover, I need one for a project, and even at dealer cost, I don't want to spring for a new one on this experiment. Plus new parts wouldn't look right on this carcass. Also, any old Jonsered stuff is interesting to me.

well spike i guess im gonna miss out this year. was looking forward to bringing my fleet up. should be agood day

Spike, I have a shopping list;...let me know if you have this stuff at the store for a couple of GTG Simple projects:

A 24 inch chain to finish the Homelite 540. (I have this goofy Poulan Pro New/Old Stock 24inch bar that needs a reason to exist..and it fits on the Homie..and its much lighter than the 28 inch bar I now have on it)
A chain for a Stihl MS170
A pulse line for a Homelite 1020..kind of a large diameter hose from the crank to the carb. Maybe 1/2 ID.
Fuel line for my Homelite XP1130 (Had that crimped clear fuel line..want the real stuff)
Husqvarna 61 Rancher carb kit.

Not certain exactly what to bring so right now I thinking:

To run & mess with
My tool box for the truck....and fixin saws.
Homelite XP1020 w/ 36in bar
Homelite XP1130
Homelite 540 w/28 & 24inch bars
Stihl MS170 freak saw with its now fixed casting / manufacturing flaw
Husqvarna 61 Rancher
Homelite S-XL925 w/20 inch bar OR maybe the Homelite XL-903

Other stuff I could bring if there was interest in swapping:
Pile of Homelite gear drive parts & project saws, 707, 770 etc.
Disston 211 Project saw part way done. New ignition. Good spark & Compression. Second Disston parts power head.
McCulloch 660 Needs Carb Kit to run. Needs Ignition cover to be right.
McCulloch 10-10 parts saw, good paint, low compression.
( I can bring some, not all of that stuff! Only whats of interest if any)

Stuff I'm interested in finding for current projects:
Plastic Covers for the 540
Parts to build the Husqvarna 61 Rancher into a 268 retaining the Rancher plastic. 268 Barrel/Piston, 268 Muffler, 268 Carb/Intake parts.

Pipe dream projects:
Any Homelite 8800 parts. Want to build one of these someday.

You going to have a grill? I could bring a bag of Hoffmann's Snappy Grillers & hot dog buns to match. Kind of a local thing.

Team Red North

Well PB just left after a day of working on and actually fixing a few vintage Jreds and laying a few good sized maples to waste. Well, not really to waste just to different sizes than it grew!! Man, that 910 he just got was a bear!! You could pretty near ride that down through the 20" maple. We were bummed that we couldn't get down there this time but we did make the best of a sad situation. We went to lunch and while having a hoppy beverage I aquired a 90 Jreds from this guy I know for free said it ran last he knew!! I hope you all have as much fun as PB and I did with just two of us!! And I hope the weather is kind to you. Wife's mad I gotta go!!! Have fun, we did!!:cheers::cheers::greenchainsaw:

I had a good time! It was nice to get to use some saws that i have been itching to play with. I wish the 630 was acting better, now i have to find out what the issue is with that. Your 630 was a great running saw the port job really brought that saw up a notch. I love that 910 and don't think I could find a tree in Maine big enough to slow it down.

Hope the 90 turns out good for you. Thanks for having me down and the cold beverages.

That's fine for the menu Walt. Also I think there is a member coming that will be interested in those Macs if you bring them down.

OK Charlie;

We will be there around 8:00 setting up. I figure that we will start making noise @ 10:00.

For guys who haven't been here yet, everything will be pretty easy to spot from the road once you are on RT 28, because we are fairly close to the road. Just look for all of the school buses, because the store s in the same complex. If you are coming up from RT 87 exit 19 at Kingston, we are about 11 miles out on RT 28. The four lane section of RT 28 has a 45MPH speed limit; 50MPH is cool, but over 55 and you'll get nailed.

The phone number for the store is 845-657-6395 if you need to call. We will also be there today from 8-12, which are our regular Saturday hours.

It was Warren who came up with the idea of the saw toss, and he seems to want to make it as hard as he can. He was talking yesterday about filling the thing with concrete, but then he found a Poulan with both handles missing and wants to use that. I can see a rotator cuff going out here.

The weather this morning is crummy, but it is just light rain at the moment and it may clear up later this afternoon, so I hope I made the right call, because we do have a piece of wood big enough for PB's 910! Either way, tomorrow should be far nicer.

We are figuring on cutting up the whole pile of wood because one of the local guys offered to pay us about what $ we have in the load. So, after we get our fill of comparing the saws against each other cutting cookies, anybody who still wants to play can help cut everything into 20" blocks for the guys OWB. It really is nice stuff, and it would be a shame to turn the whole thing into cookies and sawdust.

The chili simmered all night, and it's a good batch. What we might also need, which is easy for guys to grab, are some soft drinks. Water, iced tea and such. We'll have a cooler.

The day won't be complete without having a couple of beers, but we'll wait until we're done cutting before that.

Sunday it is..I'm planning to leave Cortland 5:30ish to be there in the 9:00 time frame. Does that sound about right?

So I'll bring a couple of Mac's for swap(10-10 , 660) Also some Homie's to run & tinker with. (540, 925, 1020, 1130)
And the 61 project & little Stihl's to get chains & stuff for.

Well we have a blue sky and the sun is out. Leaving in a few hours, looks like it's a good day for a ride.

Ain't now sunshine where your going. Light rain and 55.

What we might also need, which is easy for guys to grab, are some soft drinks. Water, iced tea and such.

I think I'll pick up a gallon of cider.

Heed spike's warning about speeding on 28. Troopers are vigilant at this time of year (school is in session). We seem to see someone pulled over everytime we travel it.

And you sure don't want to be pulled over with a car load of chainsaws that could be bad. :chainsawguy::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:
