Hello again,
I was given this old 011 as payment for some work I did. I got it to start and it runs quite well. The problem is the throttle advance latch does not advance the throttle sufficiently. I have no problem starting the saw if I hold the throttle manually but it does take a bit of dexterity to hold the throttle and pull the starter cord.
I looked at the advance mechanism and there is movement but it might be insufficient.
Any thoughts?

I'm not expert at fixing saws, but I have an 011 AVT (and the high idle throttle lock works) so I took some pictures of the carb with and without the throttle lock on.

bValve.jpg
Photo above shows the butterfly valve in the normal idle position (on the left), and on the Right with the throttle lock engaged.

linkage.jpg
Photo above shows the throttle linkage? in the normal idle position (on the left), and on the Right with the throttle lock engaged.

Not sure if that will help, but it's at least a point of reference.

I have ordered but not yet received a new cable. I'll see if the brass end is tighter into the carb adjustment hole.

On another note, while removing the carb I noticed an "extra" screw lodged in the air intake hole in the chassis. Removing a single screw and cover plate I was able to remove this extra self tapping screw. It appears to be one that could be used to assemble the handle. I have all the handle screws so this might have been installed during initial assembly. This is also the reason the saw ran very rich. The screw was blocking most of the air intake hole.
Searching the ipl to find the foam air filter does not reveal a listed part. Anyone know the correct part number for this filter?

I got the carb out, the linkage may be in the incorrect hole. Does anyone know which hole is correct? Looking at the throttle plate, the hole used on my saw is the one to the left of center is where the control linkage was attached. This hole is slightly bigger than the one to the right of center. The one to the left would provide more throw but being bigger in diameter, allows much more slop in the attachment point.
Regards,

Thanks for the reply. The filter I am referring to is shown in the picture with the filter cover. It is located on the saw in the other picture where one screw hole is shown above and to the right of the clutch. It is captured by the small triangle plate as shown at the right of the picture.
The carb/cable picture shows the hole used which is quite large in relation to the cable end. I should be getting the new carb cable today and I'll see how it fits. I suspect the correct insertion hole is the one at the very bottom of the control arm bracket. I'll wait for your answer before any re-assembly.
Thanks,

Looks like we have slightly different versions of the 011. See attached photos, but it looks like my throttle cable is in the same hole as on your carb in your picture. I have no opinion if that is always correct (other than my 011 seems to work) or if it varies from year to year or model carb etc.

My cover that you show in the first image above is slightly different. I have not opened the one on my saw. Attached is the 011 parts list. Look at illustration A part number 17 and 19, perhaps that hose with foam ends under the door/plate? I assume the hose and foam bit at the end is the bar oil tank vent? Perhaps that is what you are seeing under that door? I'm no expert.
