Agreed! I put him on ignore a while ago, and yet his trolling continues. He can only troll as long as we entertain him.

i may have to disagree with the IGNORE LIST.....if u do that, some honest guy may come looking for info/help and SAPPY may answer with his wild ideas, than u won't see it and the honest guy that don't know SAPPY may listen to him and ruin his saw....or worse get hurt!

FISH....yes, it was rhetorical and to prove a point (and maybe get a lil chuckle too). thanks for the welcome back, i've been around a lil but have been busy. just got a sthil dual port cover for my 440 from thompson 1600....was gonna put it on this weekend but ran out of time so may do it one night this week, also got one of the ArborPro bars (24") to try out.

BTW,,,,,i was informed that i can use a wood screw to back out the limiter caps....but is there a tool made for doing this so i do not have to worry about damaging the caps?

hope u had a good weekend
(i smoked 20 lbs of chicken wings and was lucky i actually got to eat some before they were gone!)

Was that rhetorical? Yes there is a tool, which I recommend.

If you mess them up with the screw, be prepared for a PITA job to get the out... I get a bunch every week where they have been damaged in the carb... grrrr...

I bought a new 361 and have had problems with this bar or the oiler. The bar and clutch get way too hot and I've read here that later model Stihl saws have lower oil output. My saw uses like hardly no oil and I've adjusted the output to high. I've got a 024 I've had for years and I like the great oil output on the older saws. I tried cleaning the resevoir thinking that was it but it didn't affect it. Also, I've read Andy's oiler upgrade posts and wonder if I can do this with the 361? As for the duromatic bar my friend said I "had" to get the hardtip cause it was the "best." I've always ran the sprocket or roller tips (still not sure the differences  ) and never had problems. What opinions do you guys have on these bars. Thanks for all of your help. Great site and good people.
If you do not need the hard tip replace it. If you keep it, make sure to clean the bar groove out real good, also the oil holes. The chain needs to be very sharp, sharpen every time you fill up the gas tank. Use a summer weight bar oil. As to tensioning the chain, hold the bar up, tighten the chain so that there is 1/8 inch between the bottom of the bar and chain links in the middle third of the chain. You should be able to easily pull the chain around the bar. I use a lot of hard tip bars and this "system" works well for me. Check the bar for premature wear from heat. Grind the rails if uneven. Ignore the crap on this forum, sometimes these people can be quite informative. Good luck, the duromatic bar is a good one one , it might just take some getting use to.

Well it looks to me like Sap has taken Simon's place. He's getting far too many responses that contribute nothing to the community's knowledge of saws. IMHO the way to hurt him is to filter him out; instead of ranting ad nauseum.

You hit the nail squarely!

This tread, like many others has been ruined by all the "sap - crap".:bang: :bang:

Well guys I appreciated the advice as usual (on the first page). It seems that I have been running the chain the same tension as my other Stihl which I guess is too tight. I do like some more oil though. But my suspicions were correct that the hard tip does run a little hotter and I probably didn't need it. I'll buy a rollermatic and I'm sure that will help. Well, after all of the hooplah on the last pages I end with this; my daddy can whip your daddies... Preciate the help guys.

KBLCCTALLY.......it is not just "hooplah".... i am sure you know the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none". there are some people here that are real Saps (i won't mention any names), and listening to them can damage your saw or worse...get you hurt.
stick around a while and u will know who-is-who in a short time. lots of great info and good people on this site.
