Alright fellas be gentle.

Can Stihl bars be used on Husky saws? I know, I know how funny would that look. But, recently I have been reading and hearing some feebback about the 385 and who knows I might be willing to play both sides of the fence.

Even if you could get them to fit, it would take years of therapy sessions and hormone treatments before the saw would work productively. Could you live with yourself for doing such a thing?

I know that bar would never wear out with that little husky pulling a chain around it. If i could even get the bar bolted to it without rejection that is. :D

John W. I could order a 385 from you walkerized and ready for my stilh bars then? Sounds like i have to consult the savings account

thanks for replying everyone

stihl bars to husky saws

hello confused
this is a photo of the adapters we make to use our stihl 084, 088 and 090 bars on our huskys.the 272-281-288, the 394, and the 3120 all have different bolt spacing, hence the 3 different adapters. the s shaped adapter adapts the 066 and smaller bars to the husky 272-288. you can purchase it from madsens for 3-4 dollars

When the wife releases your bank account LOL give me a call and i will give you a price quote on the 385
Our adapter is similiar to kens. I will take picture and post it tomorrow

John? what could you do for a 020T and how much would it cost me?

Later,
David

Well, well well, I am starting to see stress cracks in confused's disposition on Stihls. I NEVER thought I would see the day. It's hard to resist better performance AND a lower price isnt it buddy?

stihls fetch a good price on ebay - you should be able to help yourself there with the financing of the husky badboy:)

I knew it was coming and actually HuskyMan and Otto I'm surprised it took you this long.

Now as for my Stihl alliance, I have come around what can I say those Germans aint cutting me any slack on prices and from what i have read and heard that 385 is a tornado dressed in plastic. Besides that way I can start working on my initial goal of using carbon body work and refinning my 046 to lighten it up major.

Besides I want a bad ass saw.

:D lol - well confused - i guess we all have something in common for sure...we all want a badass saw - dennis told me that 385 sounds just awesome after its powertuned....:)

Confused, not only do the 385s sound great, but they cut great!! (Especially with some TLC) :) I had another former 066 man go out the door today very pleased with his 385....

and I do suppose, even if you do put a *cough* Stihl bar on it, it will cut just as nice....

Here was my initial plan of sorts.

046 on my 18" bar
066 on the 24"
088 with the 36"

But with all that as transpired it seems as though the 385 has dethroned the king 066. So my deliema has been fixed now i just have to make some adjusting with the bank account so as my g/f and parents (college student with chainsaw addiction) dont notice the new toy. I think i will have to sell one toy to buy another. Good bye jetski its been nice.

thanks everyone for the help

time to finish my circuit analysis report 5 pgs down 5 pgs to go

I don't know. Sounds like morphing or hybrydizing to me. Before you know it there won't be any orange or red or whatever. Stick with one or the other so we'll have something to argue about. sheeeez.

hey confused, how about:

346xp - 16" bar
372xp - 20" bar
385xp - 28" bar

lol - :blob2:

btw - have you checked out jonsered? they are essentially the very same saw that you might get a good deal on - maybe get one from dennis and have it powertuned? only he can tell you but its an idea - since that may ease the stihl addiction...i know its a huge leap from stihl to husky - this way it might be less painful:)

Otto,

Ha ha baby steps huh. Well i would Stihl be using Stihl bars and Stihl chains. I have used one oregon chain and will never use anything but Stihl chain from now on. So it aint like im totally losing my mind.

I already have at my disposal

Brand new 30cc Mac 14"
610 Pro Mac 16"
046 18" 24" 36"

So i already have a somewhat diverse lineup, albeit the 610 is on its last legs (she has gone through 2 bars already). My father and I wanted a bigger horse so i picked up the 046. Now I'm addicted ever since I became a member of this forum. So who knows i might pick up a Jonesy next but i doubt it.

lol - understand - a saw should easily outlast 2 bars though eh!? anyway - check out the jonseys - like i said they are the same (95%) as the comparable huskies from what i hear and they do seem to sometimes be a little cheaper - i dont know but i would really have a little look. ask the guys here - they can tell you for sure.

PS. you need to save that 36"bar for a 385 or bigger eh, unless you cut pine. to get any advantage from that big of a bar (IMHO) one must cut a lot of big trees down in one sitting to compensate for the weight and speed penalty (the drag would be too much in a 046, unless you used skip chain and....and...) :p well, you know what i mean. and oregon chain is not really worse than stihls in my opinion - it certainly does not feel to me that it cuts any slower - maybe due to the higher chrome content in the stihl it keeps its edge longer - but you can buy oregon for half the price where i am - so i would make sure im comparing apples to apples. the stihl rs to oregon lg seems no different except for the number of drinks i can have with the leftover cash...

Otto,

the 36" bar will be on a 088 someday. For now the 046 pulls it nicely (not the best but if your careful and dont force it she gets the job done). I dont even need another chainsaw, h@#l my 046 hasnt seen the light of day since school started in August. Well every once in awhile ill start it up just to hear it. But i havent been cutting wood since august so you see i dont even need what i have. Chainsaws for me are toys, i love to go out in the woods and cut. I havnt gotten paid once for all the work i did on the weekends last summer using my saw because to me its just fun. So i dont need the 385, but hell why not! It would be just one more toy to use when it suited me. Now I do take odd jobs around my area here to keep spending money in my pocket. So the saw might actually start paying for itself. I might have to wait till this summer before i can buy the 385 but I have made up my mind that the 066 is out and the Husky is in.

well congrats on your choice confused - i really feel your better off with a 385 as opposed to an 066 (its a great saw - but like everyone has already has said - its tapped out from the factory, not much you can do). 385 will awaken to a little tickling easily i hear. anyway, i'm not a logger either, just trying to clear up after the icestorm of the century last year here in AR (900+acres and a lot of it is just rotting and i dont like to see that kind of waste), got all carried away with saws so might as well make a little money back while doing this fun thing so - selling the sticks for firewood. i shouldnt call them stick cos gypo will think im talking about some p*ssy little elms/rock maples or something, theyre not small!, just nice 30-50" red oaks that make a really nice sawing time - i have grown to hate moving and splitting though - lol:D

PS. if anyone wants me to stack the wood (ie. other than old folk or young naked women) i tell them to f... off and leave with my oak in the back of the tundra.. i just like the sawing part - i know i have promised pics i will really make an effort to get some tomorrow.
