Good Day Dan, even tho the factory has left lots of power in a stock saw, as we increase horsepower the power band becomes narrower. Increases like Ken are talking about may not be practical for tree service work, but the guy knows his stuff, he studies small engine, motorcycle, karts, and our favorite chain saws, he has notes and grafts on everything he's built.
Because of the basic design of the 385 it dosen't take much work to make them bark, and as most have found, a lot of horse is held up in the muffler , or the 372 for that matter. Got a guy out here that uses a 371 for falling in the woods, doesn't have the stump of the 066, but he makes up a lot of time limbing and bucking, seems to cut just as much as the guys with 066's at the end of the day, and dosn't have to pack the weight or gas.
But the best part is he's run the saw three seasons. Try one you'll like it, and best part your buddies will be IMPRESSED ! Jon
