hahaha, Will there bloody noisey things, and they need cleaning ect,,,,

Just send a few modern loads though her and it cleans up a bit, great side arm, bought it when I was working in the Absoroka-Wilderness Area in Montana, there was some critters in there that where much bigger than me and I reckon with pepper spray I would end up with a pissed off griz, a string of pissed off horses and a whole lotta problems. Left all my firearms in the states when I moved here, don't have to deal with rego's, license's, safe's and cops checking out what I do, well yet that is, mum is talking about selling the home place and I need to sort out all the gear I have left there.

All this talk about 'not safekeeping' provisions of the Firearms Act has brought back nightmares of my time in the legal profession. 80% of the firearms charges I dealt with were for breaches of the not safekeeping provisions. I could go on for hours with horror stories....

The most common offence was not having a firearm unsecured. I even had a bicycle chain out in the bush to wrap around a tree and bolt my rifle to when I wasn't using it - and yes, I had cases where the cops showed up in camp and busted guys who had unsecured firearms, heaps of times.

Unsecured ammo is another big one. The number of guys who had a few .22 rounds sitting out or box of airgun pellets - busted.

Arrgh, the memories are starting to flow back...

Derwoodii, I spent some time in the service. If your son picked his MOS (military occupational specialty) intelligently, he could get some advanced training that could help him when he gets out. If he's interested in the combat arms, tell him to get over it. If he feels the need to test his courage he can go try skydiving, if he wants some blood and gore, then he could spend some time working with the ambulence service.

Since ANZAC Day is coming up, I'll post an article I wrote a long time ago.

Here it is - http://northwestvets.com/spurs/shulze.htm

Here it is - Least We Forget

I reckon hes going air force way as he did fly on weekend and naturally was impressed. He's not a combat type I.m suggesting armour weapons fixer or engineer corp we,ll see its early days yet but I gotta laugh as he.s had to learn how to iron a shirt fit a tie polish his boots and march the army way. Poor sod :msp_rolleyes:dad n mum just did not teach him discipline's and now seems he.s looking for it elsewhere.

Hmmm i'm ex airforce RAAF Airfield Defence Guard served at Phan Rang Sth Vietnam 70-71 got out in 1974 couldn't get a job as a security guard anywhere at the time
seems like there where to many unemployed Army types wandering the streets .... corrective services was full as well so i gave up on gun carrying and went fixing chainsaws instead

Dont see a need for firearms myself

If you have a need to prove yourself go serve your country and pick up some skills along the way employers look very favourably on ex service men and women.

McBob.

finally had an excuse to get my mak out today, first time its done any work since cup weekend. anyway doing a bit of work out at the zoo today, had to noodle a few logs into half rounds to make a small wall on a gorilla shelter. anyway logs were only about 200mm round and but i decided to put the 30" bar on my 7901 and noodle the logs as longer lengths before cutting them to the finished 500mm long. all logs are sugargum for those wondering. very impresssed with how well it pulled the nib carlton non skip semi chisel noodling with the whole bar buried, logs were reasonably hard as they had been sitting out in the paddock for about 9 months or so now

Billy, just watch the clearcoat on the German bar, it melts really easily.

I ended up with a cammo bar dropping and cutting up some old White Box

It's now an au natuarale bar.

Paint stripper works really well getting the crappy varnish or whatever it is off. ;)

well considering how little i use the saw and even then that bar pictured gets used even less i reckon ill just wait and see how it goes, if it melts ill just sand it bare

Nope, the clearcoat on them is bulletproof.

The German bars are a great bit of steel, and apparently the tips are better than the Oregon ones they're cloned from, but the clearcoat goes all gooey when you get the bar hot :monkey:

wouldn't last 15 minutes here don't matter even if i turn the oiler flat out bar still get's too hot to hold on too

bairnsdale has a pop of about 10000 and has 2 gun dealers one with hight price's and one with very high price's

oh yes that sounds familiar.

In NSW, Mick Simmons sports stores and K-Mart always had excellent ranges of ammo.

In the bush still, the local sports store is often the hunting and fishing store too, but I 'spose those days are fading fast.

I thought I could jolt the memory of the old fella's but maybe knot!

I remember as a 15-16 yo kid walking into the local McEwans hardware store ( at the time Bourke St city Melbourne) and one could by ammo over the counter. And my father was Officer and House Keeper of the Legislative Assembly! (anybody can question me on this!).
Boy, haven't things changed?
