Thought I better add some saw content, so.....

The 7901 had the pop off pressure checked and altered (they are miles too high stock) and the base gasket removed.

Squish is now around .020-.021" after cleaning the top of the piston. :D

Soo did you massage any ports while you had the jug off Rick?

That's a beauty Rudi.

I have a dawn vice that sits in the towbar tongue recess which I use for work and saws when in the bush.

I made a similar holder that taps into a log/stump also.

Likewise Al and a Dawn vice to boot :) Although I just use the rubber mat on the back of my ute now. That stops the saw slipping around pretty well. That eBay link is a handy little contraption though!

Hey the towbar vice is a good idea Al! I've been thinking about something similar.

Wow... 8,429.55 USD... that's a crap ton of money. You could save a ton by fabbing the bumpers and skid plates yourself out of scrap/cheap bulk bought steel.

Here's a good hint... find a machine shop or factory that regularly makes huge orders of steel stock like tube and flat stuff, and ask them if you can tag your order onto theirs. They probably will allow that and both you and them save since buying it by the pound is a lot cheaper.

Promac, a lot of people here are on pretty good money and they like bling on their new fourby, they have to have all the crap, even if they never go offroad or as far from home as the corner store, so the first thing they do is head off to ARB, TJM or Opposite Lock and spend up.
It looks like they're doing the big lap of Oz, and someday they might.

Others do use the car for what it was designed, but don't have the time or skills to do mechanical stuff.

And others still are just tight arses and like things a bit different/better, so we fabricate a fair bit ourselves :D

Kinda like some of those Hummers on their way to/at the mall? :D

My Ranger has some bits on it (CB, toolbox with tools in it, 31" BFG AT's) and I do use it like a truck is meant to be used.

Seems like lots of people just want that off road look even if they don't ever drive off road. I hear it's especially common in Southern Cali-cali. Prerunner/Baja trucks that never see dirt... Hummers on giant Mall terrains that never see dirt... etc. Bet they'd get stuck in mud the first time they encountered it.

I encountered clay mud (Midwest clay, in Michigan, is very sticky and slippery. All but the most aggressive mud terrain tires really struggle to clear this stuff out of the void in between the tread blocks) in the 2wd Suburban wearing worn winter tires... and made it out. It was slippery, but also sticky ####. I want to see some mall terrainer attempt that... bet they wouldn't know that you gotta get the tires spinning pretty well to help throw the mud out of the tires... They'd probably forget to lock their Warn front hubs...

Wasn't it Paul Keating who said tax the buggers off the road only those who have a legit reason should have a 4x4 the rest should pay through the nose that would fix the Torac Tractors

Hows work going Al,dont suppose you have some time for some porting.
It will be awhile before there free i start a Sugargum plantation next week anyway.

Hi Andrew. Little work this week as I'm changing company's but been busy working on the vehicles. I have a few saws been sitting here for a while actually. Matt's Dolly is still in the box and I have a big Solo (90+cc's) needing some more herbs let alone a few of mine, the 395 in particular. When I get sorted, I'll cut my week back to 4 days so I can do some saw work. I've only touched a saw once this year and that was to block up some red gum/box.
