Lest we forget fellas. It kinda puts the current Kung flu issues into perspective. I see people losing their minds about not having access to their favourite cafe or being able to fish, etc. Previous generations would be so lucky to have such first world problems.

Lest We Forget. We should to be thankful for those legendary men & women that sacrificed so much. We are blessed to have what we have today because of them. I couldn’t imagine sending young fellas of today to war in their skinny leg jeans and man buns [emoji1787]

its on boggy farm paddock & the 100 yold pine and been dead for 30 years wood is beyond rotten so owner customer will break it up and burn he was wrapped now has a acre of usable land that prior was a no go zone a few week i get my throw line bag back as it got jammed up high second flick ffs
i luv that 50 inch dia trunk vs 25 inch 461 bar so blind guess double bar my scaff and back cut all lined up 100% perfect 40 years of this im starting to get the rhythm

slicing roots with my tungsten saw today only surface ropey gum roots front yard of home & blast leg of cold water uh oh i nicked the home water main line.. Off at meter and call my plumber and let see what & how i done.. Plastic line from meter was all 150mm down under the root. all fixed pretty fast..

Looks good, I was stuck replacing a 3rd gear syncro / gear pair set in a landrover series 2 gearbox.
went well, snap ring on the mainshaft was a bit of a pain tho, but it all went pretty well, and bits are within spec too.

im very envious of your gear box skills the very idea gives me the willies and,,,, why is always 3 gear that strips the syncro
Yeah, syncros still worked, it was jumping out of 3rd gear, chap was told it would need a new match pair 3rd gear set, which also includes 3/4 syncro assy, so he got the parts, then asked me to take box apart and fit them. So I discover that he had previously "rebuilt the box" last year, but it still jumped out of gear, hmmmmm.
Worrying thing, is that once in bits, I could not find a convincing reason for it jumping out of 3rd on over run, some very minor wear on the teeth, and a small amount of slop on the layshaft 3rd gear set, but nothing that would convince me it was the reason for the issue, it all measured up ok as it was.
Well we are this far into it, lets put the bits in and measure their backlash, end float etc, all within specs, so a good clean up of gasket surfaces, and put back together.
All gears worked, all worked as it should, but little voice in the back of my head still wanted to find the reason why it was doing this in the first place.
Nothing obvious like a spun mainshaft bush under the gear set, excessive backlash, or obvious wear on the gear teeth, detent all worked ok, no wear on the selector forks or shafts, correct alignment etc.
it all checked out.
