oh well i better clean a spot out in me gun safe next to me varmint rifle's to put me non
safty chain so it don't jump up and cut me throat :waaaht:

mainly for business insurance related matters but I'm shore there's a hidden agenda from the polly's somewhere in fine print, isn't there always? lol what the husky dealer was saying, he had pressure from his agency's who ever they may be, as did local businesses (council, tree lopping industry.. etc etc) that employ people to use chainsaws, his way of explaining it was that employers had to give there employees the safest option in the work place, which in there mind a safety chain is safer for the employee, ...and by giving safety chains to employees, there basically following whoever has stated its safety chains across the board for employee's

well I know i wont be getting any Non-safety chain from him, he doesn't stock it anymore.

Going back a few years they whinged about chainbrakes too saying only sissies needed them too and looked what happened every saw now has em and no saw without a chainbrake is allowed to be serviced by a dealer ... i recall a lot of bushmen removing the chainbrake handle cause the handles pincced their hands when bucking and throwing the levers away sad thing is those saws soon become illegal in the bush according to OH&S and thats why the 090 was withdrawn from professional use in the bush chainbrakes must work and the 090's didn't.

yep. bunch of pencil pushing soft cocks. same as on the farm with there BS on farm safety, some New city boy turned farmer rolls his tractor killing himself, and its ROPS on all tractors, never do they mention all the farmers before him who know how to operate there machinery, **** we've been using tractors for as long as i can remember without incident. but then again the pencil pushers who think ROPS are the answer wouldn't know anything about 'Ballast' by filling your tyres with water.
just by Knowing ones limits while driving across the slope there would'nt be a roll over. its just bloody common sense & experience.

In regards with the safety chain, kinda had a feeling the insurance mob would have something to do with it, they are starting to control our lives more than the gooberment types

Rain, how is everyone going with the sprinkle of rain we have had this past weekend around SE qld, on fri I was still breaking through in spots with the skidder, now with the 2-3 inches of water falling around the area it looks like I have a few days off :angry2: no work, no cash flow, fark it, I should go fishing but with the rain the fish have stopped biting for a bit :blob2:

That's no good Will, we got a bit of rain up on the hill too... but not enough to cause any trouble.

Have you got some chains for the skidder? that would be fun

Pissing down rain here, loving it....bring it on! wont have to go out fight fires this summer if the rain keeps hammering down.

More rain means more cutting time! That was one thing about living in SA - chainsaws were banned for several months of the year... but I got around that by taking a firetruck with me

we at times take the 400l Silvan spray pak on the ute if its a really dry summer and need to use saws... but i usually just drag the gradder blade around on the MF 2675 (354 cube of Perkins Muscle) while snigging out logs.

You need to build a grapple/skidder attachment for that rig - it has good lifting power by the look of it.

No chains, would still drop through with them anyways, no need to be a hero and go out and try to snig logs, trucks still can't make it in, better off not creating more work than needed. The mills have enough to last a few days and we should be back full boar by wends if the weather holds.

Will

PS, it is fun trying to snig in the deep mud, till ya can't move and have to get another skidder in to pull you out, then the clean up and repair

Yes I agree, 'playing' in the mud should be avoided with heavy machinery... you end up wasting more time than anything else.

Has anyone else been watching that outback trucking show? How about old mate that goes offroading in a road train at the start of wet season :msp_ohmy: Took him 45 days to make the delivery...

45 to get the first trailer in, then another 10 to get the last two in from just down the road, shouldn't of had that cuppa :hmm3grin2orange:
