the big one out the front I did not cut the key way wide enough and i jammed the 261 in there cutting the second side and i had to wedge it over and catch the saw.

I though I had bent the bar half way through.

It hit hard on the concrete drive way and put a good size vertical flaw in it

I took one and a half tanks drop it and cut it into rounds

you can see the narrower key way in this one and the groves from the wedge as it got hammered in

you can see the edge of the face cut got broken by the jammed bar on the left side.

It jammed before I cut all the fibers I needed to so I had to really give the wedges some what fore to get it over.

It is not as nice as the big one i did out the back.

I changed the face cut to a Humboldt for the second big one and made the bore cut much wider.

Don't say that too loud Rick when David would have used either his MS261 or MS241C.

Despite the fact that I think the 261 is actually a throw away saw...

the 18 bar on the 261 did not reach even though it was an over-sized face cut.
I had to go round the back and guess

you can see my first was a little low.

The 241 did not get a run to day

the plastic fantastic 017 did do the light trimming it runs a bar off a ms 200 so it can run non safety chain

this is the top of the big one from out the back it hit the stump of the one that had two skinny co-dominant leaders
when it hit the stump it snapped the head of it

You titled your earlier post as "precision falling" David yet one of your cuts above seems to be out by around 1.2mm - just thought I'd bring that up old son.

Bwaghahahahaha.

I ant been on no fancy smancy felling course.
But I will take your comments on board and lift my self up by the boot laces and lift my game a little.

On a side note mate Carlton make their N4 which is 3/8"LP .043" in non safety.

doh

you could have told me before I over capitalized the little gem and bought it a .050 roll-o-matic e light bar.

The old .43 bar ended up on the free homelite 240 volt saw I gave mum.
the roll-o-matic bare on it cost more than the homelite did new from bunnings

A mate has lost a Stihl to palm sap.

I'm probably telling you to how to suck eggs David, just make sure you wash the saws down really, really well, that bloody sap is so corrosive I can't get my head around it.

Yer pretty handy sawin up them palms, I may need some help droppin a few soon if these dont recover

I will go and check at the guys at the palmetum.
I think you will be surprised at how basis the fert program is.
I have transplanted mature palms before.
three months be fore transplant I hydro vac around the palm to expose all the radial roots and pruned them used a seaweed extract.
and back filled with course sand.
This gave the palms time to grow new feeder roots that would not be destroyed when it was time to dig them up.
when the were moved the were again hydro vac and lifted out with crane.
the only roots severed were those I could not get too under neath.

the transplants went well with little shock.

I do the same for cycads except they get a really hard prune no leaves or branches.

This has worked for me every time.

The environment is on myside

me trying to grow sultanas in this humidity is just an example of me liking a challenge it is doomed to failure

Sounds like me trying to grow a Jacaranda here.

There's seven or so in the entire valley, and they are all the same age, old.
Apparently there were some very mild seasons a long time ago along with the trees being wrapped and protected as younguns.

I built a hay bale 'house' around my little bugger last year and it worked.
It's died back to the base twice, after mollycoddling it through another bleak winter I've got it back to about 7' tall.
We'll see how this season pans out.
