A mate has lost a Stihl to palm sap.

I'm probably telling you to how to suck eggs David, just make sure you wash the saws down really, really well, that bloody sap is so corrosive I can't get my head around it.

Good advice

I use a one inch paint brush that I have taken to with my side cutters so the bristles are only 3/8" long makes it nice and stiff and good for cleaning the crap of most things.

The saws just got a brush off when they got home but the will get a truck washing tomorrow and dried in the sun.
tomorrow is chain sharpening and wash day

My hands are red and brown colour. (behave)

I have been processing coffee beans by hand removing the pulp from the seeds.
The little tree I have is full of beans at the moment some are a little too old and some are too green.

I will take some pics of the mess that it processing beans.

I am trying to out do G max
but only by hard work, environmental conditions and fresher beans.
(actually I don't have the altitude but I'm hoping ambient temperature and rainfall are enough)

Wayne has so got me out classed with his machine and the double wall class mugs

Yer pretty handy sawin up them palms, I may need some help droppin a few soon if these dont recover

http://www.arboristsite.com/plant-health/235811.htm

If you do have to get rid of them you are going to need to do a lot of sharpening.
behind each one of those cut off fronds is a layer of dirt.

the pic I have shown are clean.

I should have taken a photo of the fuji palm after I dropped it and cut it into three.
the chain was a Little worn but freshly sharpened.
I filled it six times to make three cuts and there is bu99er all left of it now but it is so shinny.

I will try and post a picture of the palm and the chain tomorrow just so you can see the difference in colour and the abuse the chain took

I should have sharpened it more but I could not be F'ed in the end the top of the cutter has so much wear there is no hook left.

I sharpen at 25 deg for palms just trying to increase the life of the edge

I had my first flippy cap ops today

seems I must have over filled the oil and hydraulic locked the cap from going on right.

when I flipped it over remove the bar to change the chain it disgraced its self.

It would not have been so bad if it was on the bench but I was doing on my lap!

No testicles were harmed in the environmental incident.

I had plenty saw dust, I mean oil soak availaible.

David, It sounds like a lot of work harvesting coffee beans, I hope it works out for you.
I'm happy to buy green beans for $14 a KG, your next step is to build a coffee bean roaster ;)

BTW, I heard carb soda mixed in warm water will neutralize palm acid.

Wellm, watch out Neil i've grown six inches since yesterday

Well that is very good, possably too much information for us clean living gentlemen of this forum.

I would of thought you could rattle off those boys after all they have had a run or two, just a little bit of experience in that line up.

Bloody flippies.

Nasty, evil little blighters they are, their ultimate plan is coming to fruition, sowing the seeds of destruction by throwing good, honest people into confusion and embarrassment with sullied trousers all over the world, one person at a time. ;)

The only cap I've ever had let go and dump oil down my leg was an MS660's screw cap and due to my own stupidity. I've never had an issue with flippies but still think they're just another one of Stihl's retarded ideas. A moron will struggle to wreck a screw cap but give that same moron a flippy and see what happens...

Good luck :D As mentioned before he's a cluey little buggar.

You'll struggle with Sultanas in your climate without a massive array of botryticides and fungicides. Not impossible in a home garden with heavy and constant rates of PMBS but definately "send you broke" material in a commercial situation. At least if you managed to get a few bunches through you could sell them for $20 each.

Who did the take-down David ?

And from what I hear, magnesium and palm sap don't really mix nicely :(

Chuckle chuckle
The other week when we were cutting that dry Yellowbox my mate was using a old 066 and twice the oil cap vibrated itself loose and dumped its load on and around him.:msp_rolleyes:

Andrew you're not helping the cause here... :msp_sneaky:

Possably one of those Macullock big knobs who scored a new job with stihl management after macullock decided to pack up their troubles and depart the scene.

Never used a flippy saw myself so cannot comment either way.

Oh you are missing out Neil... those flippy caps have won over many operators. Some even say they will never go back :rolleyes2:

Probably one of the reasons Husky has now also introduced a flippy style cap - hoping to win back some of the market share.

Flippy caps, lotsa vibes, questionable colour co-ordination.....

What on earth do you blokes see in these things ?

:D

(There but for the grace of God I'd have been indoctrinated into the cult of Stihl by now If I'd never chanced upon a Makita on the bay all those years ago and seen the light :D Teal blue, Dolly red and Husky orange are the true saw connoisseurs colours, occasionally with a little dash of Solo red to flesh out the red end of the palette)

Well Rudi you may be right, but as I said, I can't miss out if I have not experienced the missing out bit. (if that makes scence)
If the Orange man brings out flippies, well I guess I will join the list of flippies.

edit,,, maybe that's one way of boosting chineese 070 sales, Add flippies
