just don't want to get a brand with known probs and yeah there's plenty around 1999 2000 2001 with about 200000

250000 on the clock yeah I know that's a lot of clicks but they should be good for 350 400 thou

Matt 1 is number 1.

Thanks Andrew. Straight to the top of my Christmas card list...

Hey another one to look at mate is the 2001-2006 2.4L vvti Toyota Camry (Toyota Camry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). You may just sneak one in with your budget.
Back when I was a horticultural consultant we ran a fleet of 6. Mine had done around 270,000km when I left and all up by the time they were traded they'd done a combined total mileage of over 1.5 million km. I was doing about 80,000km a year.
In that time they all averaged in the low-mid 8L/100km and apart from dead batteries one got an oil leak on the rear of the engine and another one tore a CV boot from running over sticks. They would have to be the most reliable vehicles I've ever been around. Great boot size too. When they were traded mine only got $5000 and that was 5 years ago now.

so they are still a good car I remember in the late 80s they were un stoppable seen a lot over the years with more than 500 000 on the clock .

I had a mazda 323 as a run about back in the day. Bought it from a uni student and it served me well. Then my sister used it to feed horses for a while, off-road mostly and had a tough life. After that it was sold to some back backers and now has around 350+kms and still going. So yeah, I would have to say its a pretty good car. Yota corollas are good to, and camrys. Farm tested so that usually tells me a few things.

Also have a look at the big six's, they can be had for cheap now and Aussie cars are cheap to fix (usually). Family just bought a 2004 falcon in good shape with 140k for only $3k. Worked out cheaper than renting a car for a several weeks.

Also don't be to worried about high milers, most cars are built well these days. Our local sparky buys commodore wagons from his mate at the wreckers with 400k+ kms for $250-$500 and then drives them to 650k kms without to much trouble. Now thats pretty cheap driving right there.

Oh and with a name like Rudi I should be number 1 on here :hmm3grin2orange:

yeah rudi I gave the faloons a look as me son is now buying them for $500 to 900 doing them up and selling them for $$2500 plus for money, he just sees an old guy in one and walks up to them and makes an offer and they look at him stupid and say she's worth more than that and he gives them his card and he usually gets a call in 3 months and they say does the offer still stand as when they went to trade it in the ford joint only offered them $400 .
but I am looking for something a bit cheaper to run

Dear Rick.
Please refer to that other Matt as Matt2 from now on. I'm getting confused.
I am the original Matt here and it would seem I have recently been cast aside like an old boot.
I have my big fat black texta hovering above your name on my Christmas Card list as we speak.
Regards,
Matt ( the REAL Matt, not that ring in)...

Interesting analogy there Matty as I bought a new pair of boots and threw out my old Mongrels last week :D

We're casting around for a Falcadore ATM to replace dads old ED.

All our cars are too difficult for him to get into if we have to take him to the dentist, specialist or just even out now.
Little sister has a Prado and I have the Deefer and he just hasn't got the strength anymore to swing up into either and we get rebuked if we try and assist.

And even better, the newest Matty drives a Defender and loves Huskies, so the car and saw balance is maintained.

How cool is that ?!

Yes but he poked fun at my height,,,,, he's no better than that old scheming, bullying Matt.

Hey guys I forgot to mention, I sold off the rodeo, some weeks back, it took 2 weeks to sell once I put the add in the local papers, and repeated the add once. (advertising was about $90.00 with pic)
I gave my pensioner mate $300.00 to clean it up and he painted the bull bar and wear spots as well as drove it around with a sign on it. In the end it was the paper advertisement which brought the buyer to home.
I just got the rebuild back with a little change after the selling/ tidy up expenses were taken out.

Unfortunately it goes with the name Neil.....:(

See, it's like this, my best mate growing up was Neal, and he's a top bloke whereas all the Al's I know are bit...

and it's been suggested to me that all Rick's are '#### by name, #### by nature', or as one of the young blokes used to call me when I was just a kid racing karts "hey Rick with the silent P" but I don't get it

:D

You're a suckhole Rick...

The only cool Land Rover is one that has a .50 cal Browning hanging of the back like the SAS use.

He is a lot ruder than me then Neil. I know it's not cool to poke fun at midgets and dwarves...
