Bob, never a RAAFie but did a lot of work at Richmond RAAF base over a number of years on large air cond. and most of their refrigeration gear.
Had a pistol pulled on me by an ADGie while servicing the a/c system in the Yanks secret bunker at the western end of the base too :D

Well, not quite pulled but he had his hand on the grip and had it a little drawn when asking the questions with his German Shepherd watching on.

A few tubes of Lucas Xtra HD grease should fix the problem :rolleyes2:

Okay maybe not permanently... but I had an old BJ40 that used to pretty much run on Lucas products... did wonders for the blow by and stuff.
don't think any product will fix the wear in the front shaft ,the plug fell out some time ago and unknown to me the grease would get washed out and contaminated with sand,i only noticed it last time I got bogged and engaged 4wd,shes a bit noisey :msp_biggrin:

Is that like the secret squirrel

Sounds like my old Jeep CJ front shaft.

Running around with the hubs out in 2WD will flog splines out too (and brinell pinion bearings) as they are just plunging in and out in the one spot all the time.

Now that's what I need to replace the 4.5 petrol..... I'm guessing it was DIY, know of anyone doing this swap as a business. I've heated of a couple of Gus getting about with the 4.2 TD Toyota FTE engines, not bad, but not the gruntiest offer either.

I was going to look at getting a ute with the 4.2 diesel and swapping all the good bits off my wagon then getting more out of the engine but with another little feral coming, that's been shelved.

there are a couple of blokes in Queensland doing it. as a business. one is a absolute #### the other unknown.
i think there are a couple floating around in tassie that had them fitted. my mate is fitting them too but has about 3 to do once he has finished his!

replaced my clutch master cylinder yesterday. A pretty straight forward job made frustrating by cheap factory lay out of wires and plumbing, and some things I believe my ususal mechanic did/did not do.......

managed to get my finger jambed in the peddle box when I bumped the peddle just to far and it swung over center on the springs  At least I dont have Al's and Vince's clutch problems with only 13nm of torque :dizzy:

And just my usual "at what cost" rant:

if u rarely use 4wd lock hubs in once a month for a day. or leave them in like matt did. having unlocked just helps with fuel economy or if u want to back the trailer up slow in low range 2wd.

The old defener is getting a bit long in the tooth and I'm getting sick of the crap I cop for driving it so I'm looking to up grade and found this its in cowra and a good price what do you blokes recon
