replaced my clutch master cylinder yesterday. A pretty straight forward job made frustrating by cheap factory lay out of wires and plumbing, and some things I believe my ususal mechanic did/did not do.......

managed to get my finger jambed in the peddle box when I bumped the peddle just to far and it swung over center on the springs  At least I dont have Al's and Vince's clutch problems with only 13nm of torque :dizzy:

And just my usual "at what cost" rant:

Al's the only one with clutch issues.. i run an Allison 5 speed auto :wink2:

Hey hang on now back up that Landy for a minute, I took something seriously once... yeah well ummm no now that I think of it - that was someone else.

Nevermind, as you were.

Good on you for reading the whole thread though, a lot of good knowledge has been shared plus probably the same amount of BS. Can't have one without the other though, that would just be boring.

Ummmm, that statement will get you in soooo much trouble Matty 2.

I see he has already bit (My block feature is working perfectly) or spat the dummy, not sure which.

Anyhow I think Rudi id right, there is some good knowledge amongst it and its gone HUGE,,,,, even our State Side members sneek a looksy now and then.

My guess now Matty 2 is you now know who is the Willies and who are the Wonkers.
a fine effort on reading the dribble.

if u rarely use 4wd lock hubs in once a month for a day. or leave them in like matt did. having unlocked just helps with fuel economy or if u want to back the trailer up slow in low range 2wd.

personally i rather see u in a deefer than GW:msp_scared:

naa, they get used plenty, our place is like a bloody swamp at the mo, nearly lost the crusier in a hole the other day. ended up parked at a very, very odd angle!!! got the tractor bogged a while back, had to drag meself out with the bucket! really need to remember where the holes are when theres water everywhere!!!

will have a good read up 460cixy, ta muchly.

Doh!

My old boss had a GMC 4500HD. 315 or such HP duramax and some BIG truck auto. Air hand brake and the rear leaf pack was 3 or so leaves about 1 inch thick each Leaf :msp_scared: It could tow 8t apparently???

Hey Rick, can you recommend an oil to fix my valve stem seals and adjust my tappets please?

You can fix the stem seals in situ you know. ;)

Just pop the springs and retainers off as long as you have the piston at TDC. You need to use one of those small valve spring compressors that you screw down on top of the valve stem.

Done it on the Landy, (three had popped off their posts and were riding up and down with the stems)
Really straight forward and have to do it in the Pootrol as it needs stem seals too.

Free wheel hubs can be a pain, but they can reduce noise and vibration too.

My old Jeeps drive shaft spline problem was caused by them, and the step fathers HJ47 did the splines and false brinnelled the pinion bearings from having the hubs out and driving down too many corrugated roads.
In that situation definitely best to run with the hubs locked.

Only if the shed is insulated and it's heated.

He lives in Canberra you know ;)

Heating from the inside out via Daiquiri's almost counts, but not much work transpires after three :D

Fark.

Blackened_and_corroded_copper_coils_on_conditioner_unit_-_Chinese_drywall_scandal.jpg

This looks just like the coils in an abattoir gut and hide room !!

The chemicals from the guts (stored in big wheelie bins in this particular premises) react with the copper refrigeration coils and clean eat through them, and they look just like that. :msp_ohmy:

Ha!

I used to leave mine locked on the patrol with out any problems but it was in and out of 4wd on a daily basis I would just lock and forget em

Here's some info on brineling Brinelling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And false brinelling False brinelling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And another interesting page on bearings with some handy conversion charts at the bottom http://www.timken.com/en-us/product...ler/cylindrical/Documents/BDABrochure5892.pdf

ya learn summat every day huh? nice one !!!

anyone got any clues as to why my huski61 doesnt want to hold its bar oil? no matter what position i leave it in it seems to expell lube. is this just atmospheric pressure differences or have i got a blocked breather or summat???

Yep. Walk in the park for them. New dodge 3500 is rated for 15ton towing in the states.
Can't wait to have a desent tow load.
Had a Kimberley kamper. Didn't know it was there. And still got 14/100 down the highway. Run ppl off from the lights too lol
