Hi guys

Long time lurker, first time poster. Im looking for a saw for camp firewood and 4x4 track clearing duties something around the 45-50cc displacement.

Im posting here as i was after some advice with relevant local knowledge (Australia) on availability, models and pricing.
How much would you look at spending on a second hand saw? im think around the $300 range running.
What models would i be looking at with good parts availability? as im happy to work on something if i can get parts for it.
Just wondering what model's i should be looking out for on ebay.

Thanks Glenn

Hello everyone, been busy around these parts, had another race over the weekend, this time in Wondai Qld, had over 25 cutters show up, big day. Was talking to one of the other competitors and he said there was a 2101xp in a Stihl shop nearby for sale, hmmmmm, went over this arvy to check it out :msp_thumbup: it is now in my shed, one of the best ones I have found so far, nearly new

Hi Glenn.
Welcome to AS
My thoughts would be one of the smaller Stihls but also don't dismiss the 340-353 Huskys either. I prefer them over the smaller Stihls in the 40-53cc range. Send a message to Bennn*e as he has a little Husky (345 I think?) in his shop in good nick that was traded from memory. I had a look at it but don't need a smaller saw. Spares available easily too :)

Lucky bastard

If you didn't know Will is one of the biggest bastards on here :) Especially when he gets deals like that...

Nice looking example Will.
While you were racing on sat, I along with Dean were stuck in a meeting, and all bloody day long too, trying to sort out this racing stuff, why can't I just race like most of the blokes, yea I know some one has to do it.

much appreciated for the direction ill look into the 023/025. Yes there is heaps of info on here, bit too much for a saw newbie.

anyone know what the equivalent husky would be? trying to stay away from the newer saws made in brazil and china.

Makes a nice mate to the 2100CD in the same condition :msp_tongue: along with their alcoholic brother 2101mvp :msp_thumbup:

hiya matt

Hi Will. You suck. No Chinese 070/090 hybrids?

I am not a big fan of any Husky models under the 340 (apart from the top handled 335XPT/338XPT) and would definitely stick with Stihls under 40cc. The 340-353 are Swedish made from memory and awesome saws for the price.

It was a top day Neil, the racing is getting faster and closer with every race meet we have and the video refs are getting worked overtime :msp_ohmy:
