Went to my local mitre 10 this morning and discovered that they now have a stihl section ,actually have a pretty good selection for home users,i noticed that they also keep the stihl oils,HP,HP SUPER andHP ULTRA,and a few different types of bar oil,my question is ,is stihl going away from the castrol supplied oil ???

Yup I think Stratco also sells stihl products now. And yes Stihl are supplying there own lubricants now - probably just trying to get us in line with the rest of the world.

Yep sold my last 1l castrol 2st the other day. Just some 4ls left. From what I have been told and have read else where on here castrol may actually be making the HP range but there is no mention of it on any of the bottles. The HP is a mineral oil to replace the old castrol blue gear and is made in Germany, we've always had it in the 100ml shots. The HP super is semi synthetic jaso low smoke and has a fuel stabiliser in it and made in Italy. The HP ultimate is full synthetic bio degradable 80% in 21 days I think. No stabiliser which when I asked a well respected tech services rep and previous dealer he mentioned that it didn't stay mixed with fully synthetic oils properly so they stopped adding it. The synplus is the new bar and cutter lube. So far used some in my new ms150t and 026 and so far really good. Bioplus is biodegradable 80% in 21 days made mostly from rape seed oil with an additive package. On a side note we will also be getting the de resining spray too for secatures and hedge trimmers

Well the path to doom has started for Stihl and they will more than likely take their dealers sales away so much for being a serving Stihl dealer they will be left with a dying market .... McCulloch did the same thing in the eighties even offering to pay there Pro Dealers an Assembly and start up fee to make up for what the hardware stores didn't do I got in a ton of the brown stuff by refusing to be part of it ..... they bought their stuff at a cheap price from the discount houses so let the discount houses fix em.

A nice example of a sprite

Dunno why but those things do nothing for me,actually all pommy cars except the latest range rover, let the flamming begin.................

What isn't there to like about getting bugs in your teeth, sweating your arse off in summer, having breakdowns all the time, oil all over your driveway, ignition problems, and deafening engine and road noise?

That's my Defender, except for the breakdowns and ignition problems as its a diesel....

Nothing wrong with Landies mate except for being noisy and uncomfortable. Apart from flat tyres and the odd anti tank mine they were pretty well indestructible in Afghanistan.

I'm only a dumb amateur but the bloke who did this takes the cake. Was it you bob?
