Geeze, my first ever car was an 1965 XP and that Ranchero has got to be its mother. Randy, that is beautiful machine and you should be locking it away in the garage, not driving it all over the country. When I started driving that old Ford around I thought it was the coolest car ever, bench seat or not. I paid $250.00 for it and the only thing I ever did was put a set of ball joints in the front end. The fuel guage needle used to stop at half full and after I ran out of fuel a couple of times I learnt to fill her up early.
I used to pull the rear seat out and fill the boot and back of the car up with fire wood because I could not afford a trailer. The old leaf springs used to sag but she always got me home.
Stupidly sold it for $300.00 after I don't know how many miles but I wish I still had her now.

Al, I am not so young these days and bad news - they offered me a contract to come back till the end of the year at a ridiculous rate and I think I am gunna take it. Man, I must be a money whore.

Billy, quiet w/e for me. Got a nasty old gear drive Mac and a couple of big Poulans to work on. Should keep me out of the house for a while.

Al.

Yes, it has the 200ci/3.3l in-line six, it was the first year for the 7 main bearings. It isn't one for the high revs, which makes the 3.01 final drive good on the freeway, it can cruise 70mph without undue stress. Most of the sixes ran a 3.50, they were revved out pretty much before 60. If I keep the speed down, it gets better than 25mpg, however that "speed run" made it thirsty, netted only 16mpg. Good thing it has a big fuel tank.
The Ute has been treated to good maintainance in it's lifetime. The motor runs pretty quiet, very little blowby out the draft tube. I'm going to do some gaskets, take a run through the ignition and maybe replace the carby, it is being eaten by CA's crap for gasoline.

I saw a bumper sticker today - "If Julia is the answer, what was the stupid question?"

Gotta get me one of those.

It is a mystery what they will say next

My daughter, five last month has my vernier callipers out and announced "i'm gunna do some measuring".
She measured my wrist 6cm
She starts measuring the two dachshunds.
I start laughing as she struggles to measure the dogs bum. and I say the dogs bum is too big.
She measures the dogs skull from ear to ear and after four similar measurements miss five announces that this dog (larger of the two) needs an operation.
I roar with laughter.
Miss Five starts measuring me and I instantly stop laughing.............Dad you leg is bigger than the dogs bum.
............
............
Rescued (I think)
mum has come down to the shed (1/4 to ten).
"why are their only two dogs in the shed, it is not fair to lock one dog out side"

Huh!!!

At least I was saved from an operation.

can any body see the gold plating on this because i can't, check the price HUSQVARNA Pro Forest safety helmet hard hat go with Chaps Chain saw safety Stihl | eBay
or dose it come with chaps ????

That isn't "too" bad of a price mate if you won it at $99 + postage. I paid just under $100 for my Husky setup a few months back. At $179 he's dreaming and no I don't think anything else comes with it. If you want to pee your pants price a Stihl helmet setup with the high dB muffs (the "red dot" ones). You'll be lucky to get change from $150. I've used both and as far as I'm concerned the Husky muffs are superior to the Stihl ones and the Husky helmet fits my fat melon better :D
Peltor muffs are better than both...

Bummer Al.
My brother recently reminded me of the time I torpedoed my Dad's pick-up, in the driver's side door, with a run away tree. It lunged off the stump and went downhill like a locomotive.

new tritan

Hey guys, just took the new tritan back for its first free 1500km inspectionn today and the guy said just wait a bit as it won't take long to inspect. 1/2 hour later the guy brings her around and said see you again when the speedo hits 15000km, wow thats a ways between oil changes.
All my 4x4s i have owned have had oil changed at 5 and oil filters at 10 which is a far bit sooner than 15. The new tritan, its a great ute and bloody good on fuel.

Hi Neil,My nephew has a new tritan as well and they told him the same...even with the oils and machining etc of today seems a bloody long way to me!...atleast for the first change.

Cheers Dave

I'm very sceptical about these 15,000km oil changes. The oil gets as black as the ace of spades within a few thousand clicks.
I can't help but think it's pure marketing as by the time any issues arrive from dirty oil she'll be well out of warranty.

Bitsashi*ty would probably look at you funny if you brought it back in at 10,000km requesting an oil change though :D

***Also have to apologise to some members here about being hard to get hold of and also cutting a few guys short on the phone (sorry Darren!). Work has been nuts and have basically been on the phone to clients nearly all day, every day. Answer one call and then get 6 voice messages pop up while I'm on that call. I need my very own Indian call centre...
For now I've choked back the chainsaw business and the tree felling so I actually have some spare time :(
