ES light bars will be available in the next couple months. The bloody normal es bars have gone to a 11 tooth nose instead of the
Old big 13 tooth one, I asked the question about why that have changed today because I had some on back order but no eta and was finding out what the hold up was. Saw seasons kicked off over here a couple 660's already, I love firing up new ones with that clutch whistle they make!

Any news on the ES carbon bar? I wouldn't mind trying one when they come out.

I like the Combi can they have in the photos in the Stihl catalogue, but couldn't find a listing for it, it has places to put files and spanner on it. Another bit that is annoying is the felling wedges, they have the best one they ever made in all the pics of saws being used, but it has been discontinued  the new ones are crap in hardwood up our way, they won't drive in and hang up on those ridges they put on them
Yeh they had those fuel containers in the catalogue last year but they're having problems on getting the approved over here so no luck on those yet

Randys ported one.
If you need the R model parts no big deal just add them as needed.
What l'm saying is would you rather a new stock 2014 model 461 or a two year old ported 461 by mastermind with 10 tanks of fuel through it for the same price? The used saw l'm considering is the full wrap 'R' model. Do they really have 30-40% more power or just send you deaf? lol

Boys l want some opinions or thoughts....There is a masterminded 461 2012 for a grand in shiny condition and a 2012 390xp masterminded for a grand also a plumb. What is going to be most 'fun' to run? l don't NEED either but l want a ported saw with a big wow factor & have not bought a new toy for a while....Help me make up my mind! Vincegu05 how good is your MM461?

They are both fun saws ported IMO. The 461 has good torque I find and mastermind still improves on that. The 390 gets real snappy in the the throttle and sounds a bit like a motocross bike - it's good fun too. But then again it all depends on who ports them. I'm sure you will be happy with either one.

I think Benny said the Combi Can is on it's way with the auto-stop filler spouts. As far as the wedges go are you talking plastic or aluminum ones? I have a few of the Stihl ones here that you might be referring to.

461 has the better filter but that's about it. I do like the 461's but it would take a pretty good 461 to get anywhere near a lightly modded 390XP. The 461's are just boringly good like most Stihls except the 200T so if fun is the goal it's Huskies all the way for me (or Dolmars :)). After running Andrew's 441 and 461 I actually liked the throttle response of his ported 441 more even though it was out grunted by the 461. His 441 near had a Husky style throttle response :D

The alloy one Matt, good to hear the combi can could be available. From what the dealers are saying here the 661 won't be available till march next year

Having only ran 2 ported saws one of which was a 390xp the power is impressive. I still think I preferred the ported dolmar 7900 once I got the hang of it

I heard there was another ported 390xp just over the hill from you, you should try that too some day.

A well ported 372 is an impressive saw also and nice and light at the same time.

Neil raves about the Stihl alloy wedges. I've tried a few brands of alloy wedges (not Stihl) and they had more air bubbles than actual aluminium.

Hey remember too mate that the Dolmar has had a lot of work done to it while the Husky is relatively mild by comparison. If the 390XP had machining done and more extensive porting it would completely tan the 7900's butt - there isn't actually much in it at the moment.

Your German heritage will always lean you towards German engineering as well.

Try smacking a Cadbury Aero bar into a backcut with a mallet and see how it holds up :) Better than these wedges is the answer...

Lol I can just imagine it

Also how safe are the alloy wedges on chains? I was told they don't damage the chain at all but wasn't convinced.

lol, matt I was thinking the same thing, but they did have the stihl name molded into it (page 178 has a good pic of it) the alloy wedge in that pic is the good one that everyone wants around these parts

Is it bad I have a 2014 catalogue on the bed side table... They are having trouble getting the containers approved so it may still be a wait till we get them. I have on one those wedges sitting in the shed if you mean the one in this bloke wedge holder, They have been replaced by three others now. I'm getting some aussie made ones so I'll see if Matt can break those...

No flys on the husky can I had one years ago got pinched off the truck and just can't justify the cost of a new one but they are great

Don't stress Rudy as they'll damage chains just fine. A few guys at one of the forestry courses I did hooked a few of the Stihl alloy wedges with RS full chisel. It wasn't a pretty sight. Not as bad as steel but still a fair bit of cutter damage that wasn't going to be easily filed out.

I'll try :) Hey you saw those other broken alloy wedges mate in my shed, they were a joke. If the Stihl ones weren't $40+ I'd have bought a heap of them. The alloys are good if they don't fall apart.
