Im in the middle of getting a pair of Clogger Arbormaxpro Chainsaw Pants form NZ not cheap but they look the goods.

http://www.newagearbor.com.au/shop/prod1271.htm

I have an old set of Clogger chaps.
Spendy but well made.

The new Clogger stuff conforms to the new AS/NZS which IIRC uses a much higher chain speed than any other standards test.

sent from a hand held thingy via magic invisible waves......

Good chaps make sense if your on off saws and not pressed for time work in heat, Pants are on and hot heavy all day once over 25c you start to cook.
A Q? is zipper of velco of snap fasteners,,, I prefer velco on lower leg avoid them zippers they fail foul or bring grief.

Hint can go full nude yup you think bout it you'll be so very careful with yer tackle hangin out

LOL!

Agreed on the cooking part... 25C, lemme see, yah, 77 F. Over 80F and you cook for sure in Kevlar pants. Cutting in higher temps (90F+, or 32C+) even chaps get warm. I like the more open back ones for that reason. Your shins/knees/thighs are the place to protect the most. Good ideas on the Velcro.

As for cutting with your ballacks hanging out, that seems to be common in the vids I see posted here lately by AS noobs (or so called 'saw builders'). PPE has gone by the wayside on AS and they are cutting in t-shirts, sneakers and shorts, no eye/ear protection, not even gloves, and they have razor sharp square chisel loops with hopped-up 70cc+ saws in their hands. Darwin is busy at work here.... very busy.

Here on AS they did a test back in '09 on Labonville 6-ply Kevlar chaps. The vids are gone now due to the Asian LinkBucks site attack and AS changeover to XF from Vb, but the results were posted by JeepNJesse:

B_Turner, TRI955, cjcocn, jra1100 and I donated to the pot and bought a new set of Labonville 6ply chaps for some testing. Here are the facts:
New 6 ply chaps
Stihl 038 Mag w/ 25" bar
Freshly square ground chain - Razor Sharp!
Top bar stopped the chain at WOT with only a small cut through the back side of the chaps.
Bottom side at WOT stopped right away with an even smaller cut though the back side of the chaps.
Definely worth wearing the correct protective gear!

You forget what part of the world we live in treasure island

You mean you are all rich and do not pay any taxes?

Where do I sign up??? Actually I did look into Oz emigration a few years ago and I did not have enough points. I could get a job in my cousin's restaurant in Adelaide though, and then I would qualify. Of course, I could also marry an Aussie sheila and get in.

I was shipping a lot of saws down under when the Roo dollah was 1.20 USD. It was down to 86 cents USD, but now has popped back up to 93 cents USD. No, make that 94 cents... you are gaining again.

Plenty of tax to be paid here and too many dole bludgers to pay it
