Decided to buy a little clay target thrower to take down the in-law's farm for easter. Bought 3 boxes of clays from the local Field & Game as well.
Putting it together tonight in the shed and dropped one of the little top hat alloy bushes for the main arm. It hit my boot and that was the last I saw of it. I searched for over an hour and got me buggared where it went. There wasn't too many places it could have gone but bye bye long time. Ended up using my drill as a lathe and spun one up using a double bevel Vallorbe file :D Got the bastard together finally and mounted it to my vice mount that fits the ute towbar. Should be good fun.
Did have one win though while digging around for the little alloy top hat bit under my shelves that hold my chainsaw chain and bars. Found a 20" .050" 3/8" Tsumura that I'd lost over a year ago that had fallen down behind the shelving. I pulled every bar out looking for that mongrel and honestly thought I'd lost the plot and maybe never even bought it. Bought a couple of 20" .050" 3/8" lightweight Sugiharas instead. Now I have 3 bars that I didn't really need...

Oh and got more news on that rooted Kenworth motor this afternoon direct from my mate as opposed to his missus. It was a telescopic mirror that got chewed up PLUS a set of feeler gauges. The feeler gauges still had the mechanic's initials on them which made it pretty bloody obvious who stuffed it up :) They didn't end up having to replace the whole motor but did have to replace the entire top end. Also the bits hadn't been left in the motor for 80,000km. He'd only just had a hot tune done where they adjusted all the valve clearances etc so the damage was actually done in one day and only 200km.

Show off!

Around this time last year a cockie mate of mine had his 350hp Case tractor serviced on farm...valve clearence etc...well they got it badely wrong and it stuck a pushrod out the side.35k worth of stuff up!

G'day Dave,,,,,, just wondering did that mechanic warrant his work and resolve the issue (stuffup) to customer satisfaction or did another mechanic fix it.

Just wondering how a mechanic could get it wrong so bad, I have watched our man do hot sets on cummins engines and he just went about the job as per normal.

Someone asked about chaps the other day. I still have 2 new sets left.
These were product sponsored to larger events (national titles) to go with prize moneys etc.
I usually sell this stuff off cheap to our newer competitors who need all the help they can get.
I have sold Stihl and Husqvarna chaps in the past for as little as $20.00 to guys who could not afford a new set at the time they needed them.

Thanks to the generosity of certain Stihl, Husqvarna and Makita dealers who support chainsaw racing across NSW and QLD.

Hey Neil, how are you Mate.I really dont know how he got it wrong...he was very experienced to.The big case machines have a cummins also as you probably no.My son in law who works for the same dealer ended up fixing it.They loaned him a new tractor for the season and all the cost was taken care of.They used some of the old engine and rebuilt it back to new. They are a big dealer down here and have a good reputation for looking after customers.

Yea I'm going good, having a lay day today. Will work on saws today for next weekends racing.

Hot sets on Cummins engines must be tricky, they use a calculator to set the right clearance etc, I'm guessing the business in question made a claim on that job as I'm sure they would carry some form of safe guard against serious mistakes.
Could imagine the paper trail but and how it would go.
