Trust me TC... it was funny to me...:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Gary

I have to stop myself from being a little too anal sometimes...and I hope this guy wasn't offended by that..I apologize...As long as someone see's some humor there.

So you are retired Navy???...I was in the Marines for five years.Sometimes I regret not making a career out of it...But then had I done that...I wouldn't get to play with Paul's equipment...That would have been a shame.:hmm3grin2orange:

Yup... funny part is, I only joined for a 4 year hitch. Somethin' how 4 turned into 20.

The whole time I was in,I wanted out...I didn't like my MOS...I wanted to get into the medical field, and they made me an MP,I never had any desire to do that kind of work, and said I'd never do it again..Then when my tour was over,I wished I had stayed...So what did I do when I got out...Right back into law enforcement..It was the only thing I could get into with my edication that would pay the bills..I tried to join the coast guard reserves a few years back, and they told me I had too many dependants. And now that I'm on leave from my job,I'm about to loose my mind..I never thought I would get so attatched to this profession I swore I hated while I was in the military....I guess the military screws with everybody

There's alot of people getting out these days. Me, I came in to retire, so I guess I don't even ever think about it. I'm half way there, making E-6 in the next couple of months, and looking forward to the second half of my career.

Coast Guard aviation has been good to me, but I had my choice of jobs, and do what I came in to do, so I'm pretty satisfied.

nope

Nope, I ain't mad. No problem. :)

I haven't had a job wear me out like this one in a long time. It would have been a lot easier to get a truck back even 100 feet away from the wood. But we were about 300 feet back from where we were cuttin'...

Half of the last Doug we did today (butt end of course) was sittin' in 4 inches of water. The pond is fed by a small natural spring and since the runoff drain was clogged up... the water kept comin' up. I was wearin' hip waders today to finish this job... What a biotch!

Glad it's done. Once you get those oaks done... have a beer on me dude!

Gary

I'm done, where's my beer???...I actually kind of enjoyed working out there today...The two guys that were supposed to help me today called in...My other two guys left early this morning to go fishin'...So it was just me,my 660 and my 395...That was the first time I had really got to spend some quality time comparing those two....That was fun,but luggin' the wood wasn't...I've got another big water oak to start on Monday....But I'll be able to get the grapple truck right on top of it when she falls..It don't get no better'n dat'

Thanks guys/gals!

Not to sound too corney/goofy or anything......but thanks for your service and that goes for all the other AS military veterans as well. I served in the Air Force for 4 yrs and then 1yr as a civilian worker. I decided to get out and persure my dream of being a heavy equipment technician. I'm almost halfway done through school. I look forward to seeing where my new career will take me. :D

There is a wrap handlebar/long bar disclaimer around here somehwere... lemme see... found it!

"1. Any 3/4 wrap handlebar, full wrap handle bar, and any chainsaw bars longer than 28" that are being shipped East of the Mississippi River shall have written permission from the governing State to which said items are being shipped.

2. User shall upon receipt, take items to the nearest "wrap handle and long bar inspection station" where they will have to show 3 forms of identification (a belt buckle is not a form of identification), a blood sample (for DNA test to see if there is any West Coast blood in you), proper chainsaw powerhead to attatch item to, and a $50.00 inspection fee. Blood sample will take approximately 90 days to process.

3. After the 90 day waiting period, and a positive West Coast blood match, user may pick up powerhead with attached items from inspection station. User must then attend a 3 week training course at one of 5 of the Full-wrap saw colleges located in either Columbus Ohio, Albany New York, Savannah Georgia, Greensboro North Carolina, or Lexington Kentucky. Once the 3 week course is completed with a passing grade a full wrap/long bar certificate will be issued to the user.

4. If the blood test comes back negative. User will be given their $50.00 back in the form of a Wal-Mart gift certificate to use toward the purchase of a green saw of their choice."

Sorry you guys... I couldn't resist!!!:jester: :jester: :jester:

Full wraps rock even on flat ground.

Not too many cutting choices in a thick nasty stand of russian olive trees. After spending too many hours dropping them thorny bastards and bucking them up, I thank just about anything that I don't do that for a living...

Too much work :D

So how's that 460 full wrap treating you?

Well, I was in for a 2 1/2 year stint in the Army, but I am still there, 30 years later - lots of fun there.......:ices_rofl: :ices_rofl:

So what are you Niko? I know you're an officer, but after 30 years, man, you've got to be up there. How does the rank structure work in your service?

I'm a lowly E-5, soon to be E-6 after just over nine years. Like to be a warrant someday.

So how's that 460 full wrap treating you?

I'm liking it a lot. I've incorporated it into my lineup primarily as my felling saw, due to the dogs and full wrap. Ill clean up the trunks of the Russian Olives with my 353, drop it with the 460 and buck to 30" lengths and limb the tree with my 361. Its a pretty good system, the dogs and wrap helped my felling cuts to be a lot more precise. It may also be the practice I'm getting, but when it comes time to fell I grab the 460.

Its works great to drop trees, I don't run into a problem with its excessive drinking problem  My 361 handles most the bucking, with a 20" Bar. I have a 24" on the 460 and it flat out screams through wood. (Also has LGX chain which Im liking)

Just the other day I ran my 361 with the 24" bar (loved it) and Im looking to get some 441 dogs on it. That 460 has got me hooked on the West Coast Logging philosophy... too bad nobody in Colorado understands.

I have a 32" bar on the way, got a big cotton wood to cut up, so Ill put many gallons through it before I'm done. I'll see how much I need the 32" bar out cutting firewood, I have a feeling I might drop back to a 28" bar on it for all around use.

All in all, awesome saw... Im very glad I have it.
