The husky 350 just ran with .325 and finished with 62.7 seconds.

The 5105 also finished with 57.8 running .325

The time with the dorsal fin raker chain was about 4 seconds per cut slower than the rest of the LGX.

Thanks Grandpa. I figured the Husky 350 would be quite a ways behind the 346 and 5100s, Sure wouldn't pay to put a 3/8 on a 350. The 5105 wasn't broken in yet, sure proves these saws need to be broke in before testing, unless the 5105 lost quite a bit compared to the 5100. Steve

Close, the very first race went like this:

And Adam bit the apple and his eyes opened. He saw before him Eve for the first time, standing there in her naked glory. He screamed get back, get back, I don't know how big its gonna get. A race broke out and the chase continues to this very day.

Another classic from the king.

why is it that when Niko states HIS opinion in this catagory he gets jumped on, but if others do they get praised......its just his opinion. And he can own any saw he likes, maybe read his sig before shooting your mouth.....

all saws are great, nothing wrong with any of them......what raised my eyes was the small difference between the modded saw and the stockers...

also to me there have been too many variables to make any conclusion based on fact.....other that you all had fun doing this.....but isnt THAT the point.

Gee Troll-why do you still have the DOLMAR in your stable? Most guys would of sent that horse out to pasture along time ago...................

Read his sig... whos saw was it!

Exactly Scot, that is an important reason to keep it! ;)

...but I never said that the 5100 isn't a very good saw - it just has been hyped up a bit too much on this site, for what it is.

Since some of the previous 50cc shootouts have been done with "not exactly stock" saws, it was decided that we would have a bone-stock 50cc shootout at the WI/MN/IA GTG. The biggest problem we had was finding stock saws. We did not have a stock 260 or 346 available.

We did run a Husky 350, and had planned to run a 250 Stihl, but the 250 was scratched for unknown reasons. The contestants wound up being a brand new 5105 Dolmar, not yet broken in, and a Jonsered 2153, both provided by WetGunPowder, along with a pair of 5100s, belonging to Grandpatractor (well broken in) and me (mostly broken in, maybe 10 tanks through it.), along with the 350 Husky, forgot who's saw it was.

The competition was 1 downcut and 1 upcut in the same oak cant, using the same bars/chains (all chains were new Oregon LGX, in both 3/8 and .325 pitch) Thanks again to WetGunPowder for providing the chains, and turning wrenches swapping bars and sprockets. Two operators ran each saw, Grandpatractor and Redlinefever, and the times I'm posting are a total of both times, from two stopwatch operators.

Here are the times I have, totaled up:

Grandpatractor's 5100: 49.06 3/8, 51.30 .325
2153: 51.89 3/8, 49.52 .325 with a stuck saw on one cut
Steve NW WI's 5100: 49.68 3/8, 53.88 .325
5105: 59.98, couldn't read the .325 results on my pic of the scores.
350 results were on another sheet, someone else will have to chime in with them.

Our observations were that there wasn't enough difference between them to declare a big winner, and that the 5105 was definitely not broken in yet. .325 vs 3/8 looks like probably a personal preference, with one saw faster with .325 and two slower, but just a second or two difference either way.

We also ran the 5105 with the stock 72V Oregon safety chain, with times roughly 20% slower than with LGX.

I've got a bunch of videos of the shootout that I'll get uploaded as I get time, for those of you with a stopwatch at home :D

Curious, did the 2153 have a CAT or non cat muffler???

:laugh: Good point, but it is just a few that do it, and they are predictable as gravity! :ices_rofl:

Well I never pick on ya you old geezer, you low life Husky heathen,:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Great video guys, it looks like you tried your best to make the comparison as fair as possible. With that said, you messed up big time making this a two cut ordeal. One down cut is the way to go, as you eliminate the changeover. It's also harder to control the saw on the up cut. The changeover is a huge variable, I know, I know so is a modded muffler:hmm3grin2orange: but it's still a big variable.

Overall you guys did a good job with this test, and I thank you all for taking the time to make the video.

That kind of reminds me of the way the 346 is being handled here recently...

But as uaualy it's the new kid on the block that gets the praise! Lets wait till Stihl brings out a 261 that wips the 346. Now that is going to be even more boring than the constant 5100/346 braging. :sucks:

I am sorry that some ignorants here are not aware of your loss sawtroll!

Kinda like you pimping your 361 and NE346 in almost every thread ............

Well, those are the exact reasons that the 5100S doesn't impress me at all - the low US price really is its best feature.....;)

The most important difference between us is that I post opinions and sometimes fact, while you post insults and hype on this issue - and try to keep the fact that you sell Dolmars out of the discussion....:jester:
