Solo Rex:

This is my 1958, Solo Rex. This saw has been restored to running condition and painted. She's complete, but still needs the right (plastic) air filter cover. I recieved one and had to modify it to fit. This saw is an awesome runner.

Homelite Zip:

This is my Homelite Zip, made 1958 - 62. She was a runner when I got it. Cleaned her up and repainted her. Like the 5-20, I made the dedals, but didn't seal them after applying them to the saw, so they came off. I'll have to make them over and reapply them. The decal on the recoil housing is original.

Lewis My dad use to race the solo rex. We have a super rex witch I think was made in 64. I always enjoy looking at your pics.

Thanks

Hello Helsel:

Hello Helsel, got this saw from a fellow who sold Solo in the early 60's. He kept this saw and was always going go restore it, but never got to it. This is one of 14 saws and a Homelite generator I got from him. Take care. Lewis.

Homelite, 600D:

Here is my Homelite, 600D, made Apr 1960 - 61. This saw was complete. The owner was told parts were no longer available for the saw, so it ended up on a shelf. I got the saw and the only thing wrong with it was that the coil wire, where it attached to the coil was burned. I cleaned it up and she's been running ever since. I put a new sprocket and .404 round ground chisel chain on her and she'll cut all day as long as your back can take it. On this saw is the sticker of the fellow who originally sold the saw. He later got a Stihl distributership and all the Stihl saws that other Stihl dealers sold in this area had to go thrugh him. I was told that he still made money on the Stihl saws afer he closed his doors and retired. Take care. Lewis Brander.

There is a old Solo dealer that lives down the road from me.In 1965 he just locked the doors and all the stock is still in the store. He has brand new Solos from the twins to the rexs. I have bought a few things from him.

Thanks

Rick Helsel

1-43 McCulloch:

This is my 1-43 McCulloch. She was a runner, but is missing 8 cooling fins from the flywheel and for some reason needs crank bearings and seals. I've taken a couple parts off her to restore other saws, but hope to get her back to a more respectibal condition at some piont in time.

Homelite, C-5:

This is my Homelite, C-5 made from 1962 -64. Paul, do you remember this saw? This saw was complete, but didn't run. Repaired the magneto system and she's been a runner ever since. Also replaced the sprocket and put a .404 round ground chisel chain on her. This is one of the nicest saws I have to use, because she's lighter, has some torque and cuts well. First pic was taken before saw was sent to me, the other 2 after painting. Lewis.

Mono 85:

Here is my Mono 85, made from 1963 -64. She's slightly larger (believe it or not) at 7.98 cu in, than the Solo Rex at 7.2 cu in. This was my largest saw, before I got the Disston, DA-211. I repaired the magneto and rebuilt the carb, cleaned, primed and painter her. She runs rather well. Someone converted it over to 3/8 pitch chain, but put .050 gauge on a .058 gauge bar. Will eventually replace the chain to the correct size. Lewis.

McCulloch 250:

This McCulloch 250 is complete, except for bar and chain and is a runner. Got her changed the fuel filter and she's ran ever since. Lewis.

Solo plastic air filter cover:

Helsel. Maybe at some time you could ask the old Solo dealer that you know if he has an extra air filter cover for the Solo Rex that I have. It's the blue plastic cover that encloses the carburetor and air filter. I could also use a replacement .404" pitch clutch drum/sprocket for the saw. Thanks. Lewis.

Homelite, C-51 saw.

This is a Homelite, C-51 saw that I have. Had to replace the pionts, condencer, repair the plug wire, rebuild the carb and redue the warpped piramid block for the reed valves so that the reeds would properly close. This saw is much like the C-5. The handle bar was also bent back towards the back of the saw and the rear handle has been rewelded. I also replaced the sprocket and chain with .404 round ground chisel chain. Looks like it might have been ran over at some piont in time, but she now runs and cuts just fine. Lewis.

Pioneer 650:

The next saw was the Pioneer 650, but have already posted those pics earlier in this thread. All I've done to that saw is replace the carb kit, fuel filter and replaced the fuel lines from the tank to carb, primed and painted the saw as you can see. I still need a clutch drum/sprocket ass'y (.404" pitch) and a chain replacement. This saw has a sound all it's own and is pleasent to use. Lewis.

Stihl 08 Super:

My brother had this saw. It was the last saw my father had bought while he was farming. I've replaced the cover for the handle, clutch drum and chain, along with cleaning, priming, painting and making decals. Also did a muffler mod and she runs just great for a saw that has never had it's innards looked at. Lewis

Remington SL-9, introduced in 1968?

This saw is complete, has spark and has ran for a few seconds. I need to replace the pull cord to get a longer pull. Haven't done too much else with it. This saw has sat on a concret floor for years and has some holes eaten into the oil tank on the bottom of the saw. They can be repaired. She's complete, so has a spot on the shelves. May work more on her this winter. Lewis.

Mcculloch Mini Mac 6:

Next are 2 McCulloch Mini Mac 6 saws. Replaced an oil pump valve in one and disassembled and cleaned. They are not identical, slight differences. The black one has a broken antikickback handle. Both run but need sprockets and chain. The yellow one needs a muffler cover or screen. Just fun little saws to play with. Made starting in 1970. Lewis.

1969 Pioneer 2200:

This saw is as received. I've cleaned her up a bit, repaired the fuel primer and put in a carb kit. She runs and is complete. It will also need sprocket and chain replacement at some time. Lewis.

Remigton Mighty Mites:

Here are 2 Remington Mighty Mites. They're both basically the same, but one has the white plastic rewind cover. Neither saw runs and don't expect to put too much into them. Lewis.

Pioneer P-21:

1976 Pioneer P-21. This saw runs, but needs airfilter and cover. I've put a diaphragm kit in the carb and repaired the fuel lines on the saw. Don't expect to do much more with it. I preferr the larger saws to collect. Lewis.
