So did you buy it Carl....................or were you 'fooled' by his description and decided to pass on it?

Here's my early production Dayton branded Poulan 245SA. You can see how much taller the front of the 245 tank top is compared to the 306 tank top. The AF covers have different part #'s too. No doubt to match the different 'slope' of the two tank top types.

Don't forget the 245 used a taller front handle also.

Can anyone tell me if a SL-9 clutch and a SL-4 clutch, or the spring(s) therein, are the same?

I bet $10 to a donut that the SL-4 is way bigger clutch than a SL-9.:msp_w00t:

Which do you need as I have a couple leftover SL-4 type and two SL-9 parts saws.

Carl.

That's what I thought. I need an SL-9 clutch. I'll pm you when I gather a bit more info here.

Thanks Carl.

Carl I hope you'll forgive me for not 'correcting' the seller a week ago when I saw the error in his description. If I wasn't the dumb arse that forgot to up his bid..........I might have reaped the rewards of being more observant than the seller.

Of course.....the winning bidder may have known the same thing that I did............and may have had his maximum bid set well above what I was willing to pay anyways. Who knows.....

Aaron, it wouldn't taken much beat my high bid. I think I was at $45.00, wasn't sure just how high I was willing to go.

Actually Carl, I could use that back half, as I have one decent top cover but some fool drilled a 1/4" hole all the way through the center screw hole. Cant even tap it to 1/4" threads now.

It was common on them to strip the 12-24 threads and have to retap them to 1/4"

This one has suffered the same fate but they didn't go all the way thru. There is still about a 1/4" of good #12-24 threads at the back.

You can always HeliCoil it.

Yours if you want it.

Like I said, as long as it hasnt been drilled out yet there is enough meat left to retap them to 1/4" and that useally fixes them for good.

I'll take it but theres no hurry on it.

Seen one on the bay today, don't recall the price. Just the back half.

Thanks Jeff, I'll have a look.

I am in need of a clutch nut for a model 53 Poulan. Its 7/16" (i think) and left handed threads. Only thing that keeps the saw from running. Anybody, maybe, wanna give one up? Got lots of mag stuff for trade. And stuff.
