I am in need of a clutch nut for a model 53 Poulan. Its 7/16" (i think) and left handed threads. Only thing that keeps the saw from running. Anybody, maybe, wanna give one up? Got lots of mag stuff for trade. And stuff.

Is it a special nut Les? Did you try someplace like Fastenal? They got heaps of odd stuff like that they can order.

My local Ace hardware has a selection of L.H. fine thread nuts in the yellow compartment boxes. I'll have to take a look. Good to know what they have on hand anyway.

If you treat the guys at Fastenal well, they will look after you. Often when they quote a list price on small quantities I give them a little nudge and get $1.29 fasteners for $0.29 each. 25 LH 7/16 fine nuts would be easy to store...

I have one that the coil got loose and bugged it up. Might be able to just get by with a coil. I could use the filter setup too.

I also have a bunch of old mag I'm getting ready to sale/trade off. I need to clean up.

I have one that the coil got loose and bugged it up. Might be able to just get by with a coil. I could use the filter setup too.

I also have a bunch of old mag I'm getting ready to sale/trade off. I need to clean up.

Anyone else need some stupid little part that us city folk can help our 'out in the sticks' challanged forum members?


A good part about shopping at my local Ace hardware is that there is a young fella who is kind of a savant (think 'Rain Man'). He knows where everything is in the fasteners and knew exactly which compartment box to get a 7/16"-20 l.h. nut.

Thirty years in mechanical engineering on my part isn't exactly a handicap either.

I've got a little country store about a mile down the road from me. For almost 100 years the same family owned it, if you needed it they had it, if you didn't need it, they probably had it anyway. New(er, been 10 years or so) owner has little mechanical knowledge, but lets me rummage through the basement if I need something he doesn't know he has.

Lots of neat stuff down there, too bad they never sold saws.
