ok heres one for you guys...ive searched..i tore it apart cant find anything.
SDC carb kit done on a saw. 1 H 1 L, idles backed off, leaning the L i do not get a raise in RPMS, it just dies, feathering the throttle. When i richen the L to about 1 1/2 turns it gets fat/boggy and dies normal... WOT sounds ok at 1 turn on the High....i just cant get the L jet to react to stabilize idle.

i did the tygon fuel line and grommet mod and full tank of gas, the see through fuel line only is half full of gas and the level goes down as i whack the throttle, the line doesn't appear to be pinched, the line should prime no? i read somewhere about a spring inserted in the fuel line.

This is sort of interesting.. The saw pictured above, along with another saw I posted previously, had the same problem. When the saw would get turned clutch side down, the saw would want to stall as if it were being starved of fuel. On the other saw, I replaced both crank seals with no improvement. However, after I threw another SDC carb on (off of a 1010A that I knew ran fine at any angle), that saw began to run fine at any angle.

With the saw above, I replaced the clutch side crank seal because it was leaking. Ran fine except when turned bar side down. So, I threw ANOTHER SDC carb off of a Pro 10-10 this time and now it runs fine at any angle!

A lot of other threads jump right to the air leak/crank seal issue as the cause of this when this seems to be a carburetor issue. At least for my Macs. Does anyone know why some carbs have this problem with operating poorly at certain angles? Mind you, the carbs I've had issues were cleaned and rebuilt..

It is possible that the throttle shaft is worn along with the bores where the shaft goes through the carburetor and it is leaking air. Seems odd that it would work on another saw though.

I did have a problem with a 600 Series saw that lost power when you tipped the nose down, turned out the mounts were loose and then you tipped it down the throttle linkage did not hold the throttle wide open...

Yeah Pete, anything left of McCulloch is called McCulloch International, which is headquartered in Europe somewhere.I can't really find out much about them.
BTW,I've got a Super 10-10 too,it's a damn nice cutting saw.
