does it have a decomp?Sad that it’s a 16 bar so I will find a home for that I think with a coworker.
I know one of these plugs on the top cover is a decomp valve, what is the other ?

No, just the rubber plug.does it have a decomp?
Popped the muffler off last night and the piston and cylinder looked great. Put fresh red armour 50-1 mix in and got it to fire up.
For the deep clean, should I make a little bolt on cover for the port opening so I can blast it without the muffler on? I’m assuming duct tape won’t stay. Was thinking a little sheet of plastic cutting board, or wood
Is it possible to convert it to 3/8 picco? If the current bar is kept what is you favorite Stihl semi chisel ?
What are the threads I’m seeing in the center of the shroud nut? It’s still stuck. Will try some heat tonight and the hand impact.
Ordered that piece and the brake guard . Muffler needs some prying, the front is somewhat crushed
put a pc of innertube under the plastic plate. take the carb off and do the same.Popped the muffler off last night and the piston and cylinder looked great. Put fresh red armour 50-1 mix in and got it to fire up.

I agree to some extent, but there is a legitimate reason to do it on some modern saws in the EPA era. The MS260 is a good example. It is a pig with the stock EPA compliant pencil sized exhaust hole and limited carb.Muffler mod?
Must be a thing of the modern era and internet forums/youtube- see a small engine 2 stroke muffler- must cut more holes.
I use a .325"x8 rim on my 026 saws, which about is the same diameter as a .375"x7 rim.Hitting the closest dealer tomorrow for bar nuts, .325/7 rim sprocket. Chain
Is there a Stihl non safety semi chisel in .325 16” farm boss bar?
Snagged the chain today, rim sprocket is on order, along with OEM air filter. Was surprised they could get oneI use a .325"x8 rim on my 026 saws, which about is the same diameter as a .375"x7 rim.
The Stihl RS .325 chains are full chisel and work well on my saws.

Can I run it well enough to properly tune with a worn rim sprocket?
I do almost exclusively bucking, I have a few elm logs to tune in as well as a pecan trunk that was dropped at work yesterday. I’ll have to snag a photo of the rim. Bar is brand new. Was worth a 1/3 of what I paid for the saw.How bad is the used bar/chain/rim? Dress the bar, sharpen the chain, and tune it in a full cut
The used rim will wear the new chain quickly.
As mentioned an 8T 0.325 rim might be a better match unless you are in full cuts and hardwood. 7T will be harder to bog in full cuts.
STOVE. I see your questions and think that you probably could just dive in and take it apart and see what happens. That's how I learn anyway. Sometimes I plant a cellphone camera tripod to film my disassemblies so I know how they go back together. I use Echo 2-stroke oil exclusively. Two dogs might be overkill; they both do the very same thingA few thoughts and questions.
- is it missing an outside felling dog? I see the holes, does a second dog help with bucking?
- I run quickeen fuel system treatment in all my other small engines and my outboard. Does red armour oil have similar properties? Can I toss a splash in it?
- what do I look for with the anti vibe to see if it needs replacing?
I have been muffler modding all saw mufflers since EPA regulated them choked down to limit emissions of gasoline vapors into the atmosphere. From the very first 044 I bought on up through the MS440`s 460`s, same with all the 026, MS260`s but never did a video of any of that. The mods definitely make a big difference with no other work done but then I got the grinders out and the ports got timed and massaged, that makes a whole other animal out of a stock ,detuned model. I say proof is in the pudding and when I cut side by side with others running off the shelf stock same model saws cutting hardwood off the same pile of trunks, everyone is looking and paying attention to the saws I am running. I don`t go for noise but with experimentation I found the best size and placement for the exhaust taking in many factors of where the hot exhaust is pointed, making custom deflectors to prevent burning of other saw parts all can be accomplished. I can run my ported saw without ear protection but I certainly do and recommend all saw users to wear ear protection. I have permanent ringing in my ears but that is from extended, all my life running very noisy machinery, especially straight pipe caterpillar dozers during youthful years, firing high power rifles for hours on end. My 30/06 barrel would get so hot it was quite uncomfortable to bare hand touch. Wear your PPE guys , you only have them until damaged.Muffler mod?
