Mtronic or standard saw?
Grind the key so the flywheel advances counterclockwise.
Also open up the muffler a bit.
The muffler has the deflector removed & i hollered that hole out

Well, how's it running after that?
Man it ran good for about 10 seconds. Really screamed! Then it started missing & popping & wouldn't idle. I put the original back & it still acted funny? I cleaned the coil & mounts & cleared up.
When someone says “really screams”, it often means it’s running way too fast because it’s too lean.
Do a reset
Mtronic saws do run lean
I said to hell with that flywheel & put the one that came off back on.
It would only run for about 5 seconds. Fast idle wfo didn't matter. It was very strange

That's what i was going to say after you told me it was MTronic,its best to leave the timing alone and just do the muffler mod, but you already learned this I see.
