I have a mac titan 57 that runs but won't stay running. It used to be my Dad's. He said it was a hell of a saw. Is it worth the effort of tracking down parts to fix it? It has a new bar, multiple chains, a new pull starter and a new clutch and sprocket. It quit some years ago and I finally talked my Dad out of it. I think it needs a carb rebuild and possilbly seals. The rpms change when you lay it on it's side and then it dies.

The titan 57 is worth fixing. It's a quality saw built in McCulloch's plant in Italy.

Is the gas tank completely full? Try filling it all the way and then lay the saw on it's side. If the tank wasn't full when you turned the saw over the fuel goes to the one side of the tank and can leave the end of the fuel line exposed, not drawing in any fuel mix.

I think it would be worth fixing. Was a good saw made out of their Italy plant. Carb parts should be easy to find, not sure on the seals. Good luck.

I doubt very much that your saw is in need of seals. It sounds like a thorough carburetor cleaning and rebuild will solve the problems you describe. The carb kit is readily available and affordable, so I'd advise you to have it repaired.

Check the intake hose inside the tank if it has sit for a long time it may be glued down with old oil.

I don't know about this being a good or bad saw, but I remember it being a complete PITA to change the fuel line. Many hours of my life were spent repairing it about 4 years ago, and I just bet the owner has still not started the saw.
