Hi Carl

Lawrence...

I thought these pics of the box for the vise shows the use of the auxiliary attachment better than I can describe it. Hope this is what you are looking for...

Thanks for posting the Zyliss Vise box pictures for me!But I still have a problem. In the pictures you can see how the, "let's call it the remote piece" is used at any length to use at the far end of what you would like to clamp,as in the picture of the wooden box being clamped, the remote piece is on the left side. This part enables you to place one of the turning center pieces with the tabs on the bottom to fit into the slots in the top of the remote part. This would then enable you to have a turning center at almost any length.Hope I'm making myself clear. So I thought I saw a picture that showed how you could place one of the jaws in the remote piece to clamp something at almost any length. But the vise jaws do not have any tabs on the bottom that would slip into the slots of the remote piece.Oh Man i hope you can understand what I'm trying to get at.If not no problem,my wife complains I loose her all the time.

7oaks

Where do you then find her?

:hmm3grin2orange:

Tomorrow I'll go to the shop and see if I can figure out what you are asking.

:greenchainsaw:
Many Thanks Carl! P.S. when i wrote that bit about the wife I was wondering how people would take it.That was a great comeback!

Not to shop yet

Haven't been to the shop yet - it's pouring down and I don't even want to walk that distance. We've had a week of rainy weather then one day of nice weather now we are supposed to have another week of rain. It's starting to feel like the PNW here in WV. Grrrrrrrr:mad::mad::mad:

Rain,Rain

It seems our weather is going the other way these day's.Starting to get dryer the last year or so.but maybe I'm imagining it.We are getting rain tonight and for the next few day's for sure, but it has been very nice here lately. No worries Carl, whenever you have time!
Thanks
Lawrence

A great thread, front to back. :) Pretty long though.

Ill try to get a few pictures up of some tools that are used primarily here.

So far I have added a Chainsaw powerhead holder and the set of punches to the "need to find/make list"

And a couple others

Here are a couple pictures showing the last two configurations of the clamping system that might be what you are talk about. Hope one of these is what you are looking for.

Note that they use several different names for the same parts, as I hope I've shown.

They never do show one of the vise pieces clamping into the end stop.

Okay then I'll try again. It's weird because they show up perfectly for me and the html code looks good :bang::

custom draw knife

looks like a home made draw blade.

You got it on first try. lol

It is a discarded planer blade from a mill. Super high quality steel. It's 16" wide and made by a custom log home builder. He gave it to me when I was building my cabin in NW Montana in the late 1970's. It really moves bark with ease and never dulls!

Nice Work!

I agree with Joe.Nice work both of you! There's a little fella on here that's a member Beaverteeth, his Dad is a log home builder up here in Canada so I have seen those types of tools before but Joe beat me too it.Good work Joe!

Carl,I still can't see the pictures.I click on the red X and nothing happens, tried a few time,no go.

I'll start from scratch. I can't imagine what is wrong. I've uploaded a bunch of other photos today with no problems. Some times I think AS doesn't like me. Even though I  it. ;)
