How do I go about getting the most for my furniture wood in North Carolina, I have a saw, a crane, a truck. Would it still be more profitable to bring a mill in? Would the mill give me good money for this, or should I go somewhere smaller? Is it best if seperate it all out, or bring them a mixed load? I'm just trying to get the most buck for my work, and all these mills round here keep trying to push me around/hassle me about hauling. I've done timber crusing before, but I've only worked the conservation side, nothing about profit. Apperantly I only know enough to sound like I'm trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about. :help:

Sameway up in the mts. bud. i've found the only thing large mills will take here is 16', grade A logs. try going to a smaller mill and seperate the wood. thats been my best go around

I have numerous 16' grade A's, in several species. I just don't how many full truckloads of a single species I can send. Are the larger mills only interested by the thousands of boardfeet? Can anyone give me an idea of going rates for various species? That would be great.

My best guess so far is to offer stuff nobody else has for sale. I am going broke as fast as I can afford to, if you knwo what I mean, but...

If you want quartersawn red oak with some unreal ray patterns you can call me or forget it. See "which oak (hybrid)" in the milling section.

Probably I will be doing split hickory sapwood bolts next for DIY tool andles.

I'm not sure what timber is worth there but here Red Oak saw logs will bring $275 No 2 logs $500 No 1 logs.Ash and poplar go for around $250 a thousand. The price of timber has really fallen off in the year if you can find some little mills you might be able to get a better deal from them.
