tomorrow i go under the knife to repair a shoulder. the dr plans to shave part of my shoulder socket down to give me more space for the muscles to move. right now i can't raise my L arm much above 45° to the side. i has been keeping be awake at night and i decided enough was enough. shots and PT were not improving things for more than a few weeks. if things are as the surgeon thinks, i will be back to normal (read chainsaws) in a month to 6 wks. he doesn't think i have any ligament or cartilage damage which would drastically extend the recovery. i had a similar issue with my R shoulder which i ignored until i finally eroded away the major tendon that comprises the rotator cuff. that was a fairly major surgery. very painful with months of rehab. i wasn't fully able to lift above my shoulder for more than a year. it is fully functional now and the same guy is doing the work this time. i have to be at the hospital at 5.30am. pray for my wife as she has to get up with me and then take care of me when we get home. i just get to sleep tomorrow!!! thanks for your prayers!!!!!!

All the best for the operation and rehab. I got my second knee replacement late last year, but after a lot of hard physio I am pretty much back to normal now.

Hey Neal,

Good thoughts sent from the PNW. I always think how fortunate that we live in a time when they can fix things now that a few short years ago would have taken a miracle to cure.
Stay patient on the rehab and don't jump back into the fray to quickly.

Good luck and keep us posted. I know when I've been rehabbing this site provided plenty of entertainment.

Niel, enjoy the medications. At least they are not working on your neck like my past procedure.Do your physical therapy like the therapist says to. Buy the way, my last therapists name was Miss, Rail bender, and her side kick was therapist Mrs. Diesel. Best of luck, Kens

Dude,

Relax man. There are higher powers that look over all of us, and for some reason guide the great doctors that fix us, kinda like a good chainsaw mechanic. Remember that you have friends all over the planet putting in a word for ya!

Get well soon and keep us informed if you need anything. I still have some contacts in that part of our great nation if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask.

P.S.

Still want some of that :censored:BBQ.

I'm with ya buddy. I had acl, mcl and both minuscuses repaired last april so I feel your pain. The worst is the first couple days but the best part is a bottle full of oxy. I'm not a pain pill guy but that stuff was OK! Best of luck and everything will be fine, remember it's routine.

Gotta runs the saws dry so the gas dont spoil !! :)

best of luck man..

Good luck to you Neal, I feel for you.

As you remember I had my left shoulder done in Dec so I can relate. I hope you got a good recliner to sleep in. LOL

I'll be thinking of you for sure.

yes, on the recliner. i bought a new one two weeks ago. i thought my old one was ok until i had the last shoulder surgery. you quickly realize how hard it is to sleep if everything is not perfect. i sat in over 50 different ones bf i settled on the one i have now. my old one just sits in the corner staring at the new girl........did you have the nerve block? i didn't for my rotator cuff and i woke up wishing i had. i am going to have it done for this one.

Neal -- best wishes for the fix. Where you are, if you're going to be laid up and inside, have them check the a/c! It's low 90's in the north part of the state today.

Good on the new chair.

No I don't think they did the nerve block, but my wife being the best wife in the world had my pain meds filled before we left the hospital so that was good.

Good luck to you.

Prayers going in from Kentucky.
It's a local call 'cause this is God's country!!!
Prayers for the missus to have patience and not kill you too!LOL

Good luck
Mike

Neal...

A bunch of us must be getting old at the same time. I'm supposed to go in and have my left shoulder replaced first then the right. I know what you mean about trying to sleep.

Good luck buddy and I hope your recovery is speedy.
