I do have information that a few members have been PMing other members for saw sales. This is against forum rules. I have a feeling I know who is doing it. This is not just one member. If you are too cheap to buy a $20 sponsorship are you too cheap to do a good job also? Did any of you guys doing this ever think you could make a lot more than $20 in a month if you were legit. At any rate I am saying this in all fairness to Dozerdan and Dennis who are the only paying sponsors. It is a slap in the face to them that anyone else would feel the same if they were the only ones paying. Do not support these guys that are not sponsors in any way. If you like the site Dozerdan and Dennis are just a few of many sponsors, but the only saw builders that are sponsors. If you are caught, you are gone. Its time to get the broom out.

I am confused (such as how to spell it) but are you talkin about new saws? Anyone can sell used equipment on the used form, but not new saws? Is it because they are new?

Carl

Darin- does this apply to people selling used saws in the equipment forum as well? I've sold some used equipment through there but when asked about saw building or modifications I refer people to one of the resident builders. thanks.

If you are doing this for profit, sure its not legal. If you are selling your saw and you are an arborist, not a dealer, no. The best way to handle it I guess, Is to get rid of the used equipment forum and make everyone pay. Or is it too stinkin hard after years of the site?

I know some are new so (I am not blaming you guys) Let me spell it out.
Profit no
no profit yes
ROCKET SCIENCE

Brian, I guess I have been doing the same with you too, right? I am pissed now. I hate kicking anyone off. This site is all about fun and making it self supporting (a little extra won't hurt) So yes, I try to give guys a second chance. Not happening anymore. This site has turned to crap in the last month.

I didn't know about this until two days ago. Supra didn't take months.

I am not, just been pulling my hair out the last month, babysitting. I have hope we can get back to normal.

Darin, since my wife came down with cancer 2 yrs ago and I've had to quit my job and take care of her I don't think I have missed a day viewing your site. This place has keep me from going nuts, but I'm sure it is driving you there. There are the @ holes and smart @sses on here to stir up trouble and try to make themselves look important but you and your crew do a good job keeping them in check. There are also people here that will help you any way they can, the jokers, techs, builders, loggers, woodcutters, arborists, chain gurus, shop owners, computer geeks, etc--. A few bad apples can make the whole box smell. I just want to thank you for a great site and a job well done.

well the sherif has put the word out..
anybody doing buisiness here ought be willing to payhe fee. it aint shine where he gotto out run u souped up car..he can do anything he wants to.:)
got to be a final say in anybuisiness.
even families.sorry.im having o do a little asertive recommending.. aint my way but u gotta do sometimes.. do what u got do darin. hard when its a 15 daughter that u just want to adore.

So this means that if I buy a saw for $100, use it for awhile, I have to sell it for less if I post to the equipment forum?

I don't have to name them publicly. They should know who they are.

John, if you/they are a dealer and want to sell saws be a sponsor, not do it under everyone's nose. If its a saw for sale and we all know you are an end user. This is not a for business practice. If you go to pawn shops and buy saws then go and sell them here for a profit. I would consider you a dealer.... since I realize everyone is playing dumb, I guess we can change it to no selling to make it easy for everyone. I don't think a website that sponsors pay for should be used by others to make a living/profit without paying. I don't think this is rocket science to figure out there is something wrong with that.

I myself am not a dealer and the few saws or parts I've posted here was just me lightening my load. And I haven't been PM'ing anyone. It was just the "can't sell saws at a profit" thing struck me as funny.

The addition of a members For Sale board is one of the things that keeps me on this site. I don't get a lot of use out of it but it's a nice part. With all the goofy off-topic joke threads I don't post as much as I usually did. You'll notice that most of the other equipment boards online don't allow selling at all or require you to be a high-paying sponsor to do so. I think that limits the experience. I realize it's hard to run something on the honor system when guys are abusing it, but I think it should be kept.

I agree with you John, that it is hard to use the honor system. It is nice for Joe Shmoe to sell his items for free.

The reason they don't allow it, is because of the problems it obviously causes. How do you please sponsors with out ruining the foundation of the site? I realize many come here cause its fairly busy, they can sell stuff for free, and normally there are good friendships to gain. There are a group of guys comprimising the integrity of the site. A basic sponsorship can be purchased for $240 a year. Yeah, a little steep, I know. You would have to sell 3-4 small saws at $70 profit a piece to break even. If you guys that are a part of this can't make your advertising money back, go do something else. I guess all I can do is to keep Dozer, Dennis, and the other sponsors happy is by spreading their names around.;) No balls, no glory boys.

Darin
Give me a price on purchasing this site. That way you wont have to worry what goes on here. I will do, what I have to do.
Later
Dan

Hey Dan i will help any way you need me , keep that makita nice and pretty for me ok

Hi Darin, there may be some confusion as to who is breaking the rules. I too sell saws, but I haven't really used Arborsite as a vehicle for my sales, rather, I have used my sales as a vehicle for Arborsite. Some other members are in the same position as well, it's just that things filter down as we get to know each other, plus a member may mention another members name, quite inocently who sells or modifys saw, so it is indeed a very gray area that may need further clarification.
By virtue of me mentioning say KD, am I in contravention of the rules?
It is my feeling that a few members may be feeling a bit guilty in this regard and therefore may not know where they stand on this issue.
John

I also was introduced to AS by John Lambert after I bought a saw from him off of ebay.

Now that I know Gypo, if I purchase a saw from him on a day we both post on AS will I be banned?
