I learned real quick that the 250 is ok, but not up to cutting very fast in medium sized white oak, so I picked up a 361. Also made the local dealer much more prone to working out the bugs I was having with the 250 .....

It will get used, when the wx cools off in the fall we will be having some 25 - 30 inch white oaks dropped from the fence line in my brothers back yard. We plan to cut it up for fiewood for ourselves and do all the clean up ourselves.

Chris

Thanks All

Thanks all, I think I am really going to enjoy this one. I will need it and I like to play with things that run. Wife thinks I;m nuts.....

Log Splitter, I am in Baton Rouge, quite a bit further South than the tree farm !

Congrats on a very good choise!

Keep it nimble if you can, avoid long bars and wrap handles, unless you really need them........:help:

Really and need are a couple good words! like really needing a 6" lift kit on a pick-um-up, (then say truck, and spit)

Congrats on the 361

It has been mentioned taking the limiters off,,,,, that's not recommended, but cutting the limiter cap tabs off may be in order.

I will plug the double-dawg (they may call it a chain catcher bumper spike kit, little over $30 bucks. I also put the *441 bar studs (they have a wider collar) and think there a little nicer.

* Andy Lakeside , post a ton of cool mods, do a search and you will find the part numbers.

You say that like it's a bad thing...

LOL

Gary

After spending an afternoon on a really steep side hill with my 361 it is going to get an upgrade. I have a wrap on my 441 and granted the 361 isn't a huge monster but with the wrap it will give me an additional angle of attack. If it is any consolation, I'm putting slightly less aggressive dogs on my 361. Besides, trying to cut the trunk off with the ground has a nasty tendency to dull chains.

...oh look! my handle, side cover, and dogs just arrived:rock:

Start saving now, you could have a 660 by fall...:hmm3grin2orange: The big oaks wouldn't give it much trouble at all.
