Wet saw weights

I brought a postal scale home, to weigh in my two saws and see what they would weigh ready to go cut some wood:

Husqvarna 353 E-Tech w/ 18" Husqvarna Bar : 14 lbs


Stihl Ms361 w/ 20" Stihl RollematicE Bar : 17 lbs


I thought the scale would offer finer measurements, but this got me well enough into the ballpark of what I was hefting around in the woods... not what the stat sheets say online.

Someone needs to weigh a 2171 so I can daydream about it more :hmm3grin2orange:


I think the stat sheets show the 361 and 353 apart by a little over 2 lbs, but Im sure the longer bar (bigger all around) and 3/8 chain increase the margin by a bit, the fuel/oil tanks should be a little bigger too...

I will fess up.

My Dolmar 6400 full of fuel and bar oil wearing a 20 inch bar and half wore out chain full chisel weighs in at drum roll....... 19 pounds 12 ounces. what happened to that 13.6 pounds. Oh wait, that was PHO no wet load or bar.

Went out and wieghed some of them this morning on a good balance scale full of gas and oil with bar and chain and a little dirt that they collect.

They do have a tendancy to be a bit messy though,,,, nuthin a few red rags or shop towels cant fix:notrolls2:

BTW, is anyone taking notes from this thread? It would probably make a nice spreadsheet of useful, comparible info for those looking for a new saw. I think I'll weigh my 025 also for s&g's.

weigh yourself, then hold the saw and weigh yourself again.. That will be close enough for us.

357xp with 20" fully topped off = 17 pounds on my bathroom scale, perhaps half a pound more.(not digital) Did look to be a hair over 12lbs on this scale when it was a dry powerhead.

My 440 weighs 19.0 pounds topped off and 20" b/c
My 460 weghs 20.0 pounds topped off and 20" b/c
MY 280 weighs 16.5 pounds topped off and 16" b/c.
