Yah the dealer here said allt he saw prices are supposed to go up $10-50 depending on the saw.

NorthEast Stihl was one of the first territories to go up in price back in October. The MSRP from NorthEast Stihl is 829,95 plus tax, with a 25" bar and chain.

$829 plus tax for an MS460 and 25". No discounts available in our area, the price is the price, take it or leave it. I have to drive almost 4 hours to find a dealer willing to work on the prices, even when I buy multiple saws at the same time.

066 is $1049 with a 25"

$700 or $720 wearing a 20 inch bar.

660 is around $800. How many you need?

Those prices are nuts! You are definitely paying for the Stihl name! They are no better than anybody elses pro saws but if you have to have a "Stihl" they've got you by the balls! Just my opinion but these Stihl dealers around here are arogant jerks and i wouldn't spend a dime on their overpriced equipment. They are also incompetent when it comes to saw repair! Sorry, Had to vent my frustrations!:angry2:

Sorry to hear that. Service is the number 1 decision in my book when purchasing a saw. Why go to a dealer of brand X if he isnt competent on the service end of it, or if he cant get parts for you?

Stihl City around here...

We have a Stihl/Husky dealer right in the tiny town here 5 miles from us. He is a great service technician and can repair about any kind of Stihl, Echo or Husky saw, weedeater or mower that we have had. He was also a logger for 12 years before he opened the saw shop, so he knows about saws and how to use them. There are about 5 other Stihl dealers within an hour of here too.

I have sworn that our Stihl brush cutter is DOA several times with stuff falling off or completely borken, and my girlfriend takes it in to be fixed and it comes back working great again every time. That brushcutter has so many hours on it that it is rediculous. The MS 290 is also working its way through about the 20th cord of wood and keeps cutting like wood is butter, even with a 20" bar on it. I cut up 2 cords with it yesterday afternoon.

Yah, the local-only Stihl sales and price-fixing thing is an issue, but if they sold them direct the saw shops would get hit. I would not wanna buy one on Ebay, or at WAL Mart though. Imagine getting a saw fixed at Wal Mart or online??? May as well pee in the wind. Or online...

Yep, i really don't know how this guy here even became a Stihl dealer. It's a shame because they make some great products but i'm just not going to give my business to a clown like that. He just acts like here's the price "which is usually above msrp" and if you don't like it there's the door! I don't do business with folks like that. He just acts like he doesn't need your business and it's not just me he treats just about everyone that way! He must be independently wealthy just to still be in business.

If you walk in with cash and can catch the owner on a good day, he might let ya walk with it for around $735.

I bet ya if you are prepared to ante up some $$$ for extra goodies, you could swing a nice discount on everything.

Good luck

As far as pro saws go, I can't comment too much on that. I have only been around saws for about 1 year. Stihl just seems to be hands down the best to me, gobs of power and reliabilty. Husky,Dolmar, and Echo are fine too. Those 4 are a good choice for a awesome saw. I have a Echo cs-346 and love using it for the small stuff....Must use a Stihl for the big wood.

BTW talked the ms460 down to $710 cash w 25" bar!!
