What Trees To Plant In Nothern Nj?

Hi guys,I live in nothern NJ,I have aabout an acre and a half of property that I'd like to plant some trees on.The location is on a a bit of an incline,theres grass an a couple of small tress there now.I'd like to put in seedlings to keep the cost down,I'd prefer native species and fast growing.The reasons why I want to do this are,I'd like to learn how to plant trees;I don't like grass;with so much growth(condos,golf courses and McMansions) in the area I live (Sussex county)I'd like to give back to the enviroment.What do I plant?How many?When do I plant it?How do I plant it?Where do I get it?I cut lawns part time and would like to learn about trees,any help would be appreciated,thankyou,RON K.
