That don't count... you need the wrap on that thing so the 2ng guy has a place to hold on...

Based upon my "newb" status and acknowledging the fact that most people that know me consider me a retard, I must confess:

I probably drop as many trees using the dreaded "back-barring" as I do any other way. Know your saw. Know your wood. Don't be a poser.

Im no expert so please dont hit me......but the 3/4 wrap I had on my 064 made getting to the bar nuts a bit difficult....

I like them on mine because my saws are only used for felling. I don't want or need one on my limbing or firewood saws.

They suck for flushing stumps too.

Agree on the stumping aspect, other than that I love them for falling. They work great for the offside, BTW, anyone ever see a full wrap for a 9010? I would love to put one on that big Dolly, I use it for dropping bigger trees quite a bit.

S'why you have to modify a scrench to work with a 3/4 wrap. :)

I've dumped more trees than the majority of people on this site combined and for the last two years I was in the woods, I used a half-wrap 90% of the time.
This was in the coastal hills of Oregon, straight falling; putting around 350-400 stems a day down the hill. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you must have
a full wrap handle on your saw. Skill and technique are what you "must have."

There's times I'm cutting with a half wrap and think "If i only had a full wrap, this tree would be so much easier to drop", and other times when I think "Stupid full wrap, always in the freakin way".

Of course I'm no professional tree dropper type person either...

There's times when I'm at Subway and I think "damn, why didn't I get bacon on my steak and cheese sandwich?" Other times I'll be at the gym and I think "stupid foot-long steak and cheese sandwich with bacon, now I've gained
another three pounds of visceral fat around my abdomen."

Of course, I'm no professional pork-products type person either...

everyone says they get in the way ,in the way of what ? ive never had a problem ,and for cutting flush ,i pivot the rh side of the wrap handle on the ground and it acts like a pivot ,dont even have to hold the saw up ,any lower im cutting dirt it seems like ,are they in the way with short bars ? smallest i run is 28 inch ,32 normally and never seem to have a problem ,some say bigger saws are heavy ,isnt that what the dogs are for ? jab those in the tree bark and the saw almost has no weight

Not having used one, I can only speculate, but I can see them as a catch point in thick brush, and vines tangleing on them maybe... I got one coming from mastermind so we'll see if that holds water. I agree w/ the stump issue yea, you cant get them in the dirt w/ a wrap but isn't that a good thing. Now as the log builder pointed out he has issues when trying to flush up somethings but keeps a half-wrap for that....

I would guess that most times you do not need them, but the few places you do, it makes night and day difference in how you approach the cut.
