The Nati, Oh Hi, Yo
It is just 11 am and I have already made at least 10 dealio's. Isn't that what is exhausting about the day sometimes. Rather be up climbing in the cold wind on auto pilot but every dealio takes some thought, some give and take and some worry.

I sold 3 loads of firewood and delivered, bought a couple grand worth of trees, sold 3 jobs, had some equipment repaired by my welding service, had the cops to my equipment lot and made a deal to follow up if they patrolled and caught some thieves, gave the wife a tank of gas for something (good deal here), etc etc etc.

Need a power nap cause I was up late working on dealio's on the desk to send out........arrrrrrgggggghhhhh:bang::laugh:

Well...I can say this much. I am new to being in business for myself and this year has been a good one (still is). But I must say that I am amazed at how exhausting it can be . I mean..all the thinking . I got alot to think about. Not forgetting appointments , making sure I have what i need for whatever , is the chipper fueled up???OOO crap we need saw mix...dont forget those new pole saw blades ...the list goes on. Did I mention that I am out with my little crew everyday working , doing almost all the climbing . Took today "off" because the weather was supossed to be worse than it is . So i got the trucks dumped , got stuff for an oil change , called 3 customers , stopped n bid a stump , and now that I've had some lunch I am going to clean some chainsaws . But hey...keepn busy keeps me outa trouble. I wouldn't trade what I have goin for nothin.

Hey treevet...I saw your post under "whatja do today" and was wondering....Are u a "friend of Bills"?

No Tree ace but my gm is (assuming you mean AA). I quit over 20 years ago. Tried a few meetings and decided to go it on my own and things improved so much I have rode it out.

Its stressful being the owner and also out working most days. I'm trying hard this year to not get grumpy with the guys because it doesn't help anyone.

Mike

No it sure doesn't help. ALTHOUGH...I felt the need to ride the crane ball down yesterday and explain to my 3 guys that they needed to "Get it together" .....NOW...please. I didn't yell but I sure told em whats up. I have a crane on the clock and NO time for BS. What really got me was watchn my greenhorn stepping backwards away from the feed shoot and never looking out for cars . Not on a busy street but still...thats VERY dangerous. Anyway...I guess my point is that my crew is getting tired also and they sometimes need a little push or a talkn to (firmly) in the name of both production and safety....I guess that really has little to do with what u r sayn but I feel good to vent alittle.

Few months ago made a dealio with a HO building a new house in a res. nborhood. Pruned some trees, did some clearing with the bc2000 and were to come back later (now) to finish up and put a few cables in, do some vert. mulching and plant a screen of trees on the back border. I get a call from the ho and he has hired the landscaper to plant the screen and btw now the scraper is in charge of scheduling work. He will call me to sched between the final grade and the sod like I suggested.

Scraper calls me and I can tell by the comments and the pointed questions he feels he is supervising my work as well as scheduling it.

I email the ho as he is not ever in phone contact and discuss the job, price, payment arrangements and....oh by the way....not interested in working under the landscraper. Haven't heard back yet but if not....oh well....his loss. He has got some nice trees and mr. l.s. hasn't got a clue.

not interested in working under the landscraper.

YEAH, because they are beneath us.........get it beneath us, you in the tree, they on the turf, beneath us,ROFL, LOL, LMFAO..........oh I kill me!

good one :)

Just received email from the ho and no worries of landscaper getting between me and the payment....nice to clarify it and not worry bout it tho.

made a dealio to meet with my neighbor to take our sportsbikes down to Kentucky 10 to ride the curvies.

Think I am gonna break this one and put it off a little. It is 25 degrees right now :cry:

imagine just how many times that thread has played out in the same way over the years on all the forums? boggling I can think of at least 10 I have been in over the last few years.

Had to ask... What got stolen from you?

We have quite a bit stolen including hundreds of dollars of gas but lately theives are turning to scrapping metal as prices are up. Couple of weeks ago they tore all the wiring off my chipper and dump trailer just for the metal. Cost a lot to fix. Recently they stold a Dingo attachment.

Just last night it was on the news they caught the guy that was in the news for stealing a metal outside wheelchair ramp from a handicapped guy's front porch. Part of the problem is the metal recycle places will take anything they may even know obviously was stolen.

It is squashed the same day likely.
