Yes, maybe.

Treemandan, my comment was tongue in cheek humor. I am quick to hand jobs over to more skilled operators if I suspect they are beyond my abilities - that includes felling that involves anything other than simply dripping the tree.

Crazy people dont know they are crazy.
until their doctor tells them "take two of these a day and you'll not be crazy anymore"........

My worst hit I think would be when I slipped off a limb and swung back about 15 feet and hit the trunk so hard I was dazed for a few minutes...:dizzy:

I think to the average person seeing some fool 80ft up on the end of a branch or going for a ride while doing a drop and catch think were all crazy. I am the sanest person I know(thats what the little man in my head keeps telling me)

The worst shot I ever took was from a 12 ft. hanger pole, I was using it to move around in a maple tree and had it hanging over my head, When I moved up I hit it with my shoulder and knocked it loose , It came down and hit rite in the crease of my elbow .. I literally had the gaff sticking out of the side of my bicep, I tore my bicep and did something to my shoulder muscle as well . I passed out in the tree and had to be brought down by another climber, it was so hot that day that the half hr. ride to the hospital felt like a day , I ended up with 30 stitches in the crease of my elbow and backside of my arm and was black and blue from shoulder to my fingers .. And the best was the emergency room made me sit with my own belt as a tourniquet for two hrs..

I was taking down a multi step locust over a shed. I cut off a 10 ft locust section i had tip tied off another lider and the groundie did not let it down enough and it swund around the tree, ans slammed my knee against the trunk... was swollen and bruised for a while....

Let's see here...I thought the thing was 60' talk and 6" around. Dead pine. Had to cut top and hold it to put I'm a tight spot. It sucked so bad to watch the tips hit another Tree and the butt run right in between my safey. My saw somehow got push in there too. So I had the 6" round top,my saw, and my arm tangled in my safety about 50ft in the air on a stinking bean pole. Top broke my ribs and I could not move. It took me an hour to finish blocking the tree down. The next few weeks were hard too!

I was removing a locust trying a new rigging technique about a year 2 years after I started climbing. With my boss in the next tree walking me though it I didn't face cut it enough to fall the right way and about a 12" dia 8' long piece twisted and smoked me right in the chest. Knocked the wind out of me with a nasty bruise and scared the old man something fierce but I still finished the rest of the job. It was a good "learning experience" .
