Giggle water retards giggleberry performance.

Sounds like a personal problem...

I've been plenty drunk, beyond the limits of standing or otherwise functioning normal and I've never had a "giggleberry" problem.

Wish you the best bud, that doesn't sound too good... :hmm3grin2orange: :ices_rofl:

After reading all the posts, I forgot to reply how I thought it was gonna turn out after just reading the first paragraph.....

I thought when Andy said it wasn't a good day for me or the 046...I thought the worst. I thought he dropped the tree on the saw. Thanks GOD that didn't happen!

Anyhooters, Andy, wedges save. I've had a few butt puckers in my young day. just be carefull out there and don't do anything stupid

AHHHHH, I thought I had this one I tell ya!!! Had a good lean to it, real good, and it was on a bit of a slope. Cut the notch, and angled down on the back cut, hoping to avoid barberchair. I just angled too much!!! What can ya do, I mean really? You are committed and now the tree is a danger and I am not about to make another notch!!! I just flat BLEW IT!!!!! NO, you're baby got the bar pinched a few times, but that was the worst of it, that thing is m baby!!!!! If the house was big enough, I'd have a room for me an that saw :hmm3grin2orange:

Definition of a bad day....

It was not a good day!!!
Andy[/QUOTE]

Remember when Sean Connery's character in "The Untouchables" mentioned "rule number one: always go home alive."? Good advice, that.

I keep thinking of all the near catastrophes that might have happened had it not been for your good thinking following your non-thinking. All your fingers and toes still in place? Good. Any sutures or insurance claims filed? No? Good. Was that beer cold when you reached for it? Bad as your day was, it could've been.....

Andy, the other Andy fixed up my ruined 280. (He was closer...I'd a taken it to you if...) Thanks for your support. I'm off to buck (carefully) tomorrow... 90+ foot fallen fir. Gonna have some fun.

Yes, in that sense, it was a great day!!! I am not missing any fingers I wasn't missing when I left, no duct tape and tampons where injured in the making of this mess, and the saw will run another day!

You are correct on al of these points James, my main point today, no matte how good you think you are, no matter how well prepared you are, you WILL screw up!!! I was fortunate, I knew I was hosed, and had enough sense to somehow save it, I am NOT patting myself on the back, it should not have gotten to this point!!!! But I could step back and use the knowledge gained on this site, and the tools on hand, to NOT GET HURT OR KILLED!!!!

Just be carefull out there, it happens faster than you can imagine!!!

It's because we have "gang tendencies".

Yeah, sharing your near misses helps us all to avoid our own.

Just be carefull out there, it happens faster than you can imagine!!!

Yeah, Andy. I hear you. I didn't mean to touch a nerve. And I appreciate the post...your sharing your near miss. And sharing your solution, especially. All these various techniques shared with a well-founded sense of humility and our own impending demise. Like you said...it happens fast.

My trouble is not enough experience. I need to be able to predict...understand forces...and then execute correctly. Your thoughts about safety will be on my mind this morning as I head outside.

Thanks Andy.

I was able to add to Andy's rep just now, it did not block me out. Maybe cause I'm a junior member or something. In any case good thread guys, good to be reminded of the dangers out there.

Might be that the more rep you can give, the longer you have to wait to hit someone again. That would make sense in a way.

:monkey: Hmmmm, angled back cut? What's up with that?

The reason for the angled backcut was the tree had a good lean to it, and the wind was blowing good. To prevent it from barberchairing I cut down at an angle. If the tree were to barberchair the stump would catch it and not smack me!! Worse case the bar is stuck in the tree, but everybody is still alive.
Good question!!

You didn't hit a nerve, it's all good!!! I figure I put these things up, you guys learn from my mistakes, and others can come in and tell me how to prevent them in the future. Everbody wins!!!
