Small world,,,, lil sis lives in the edge of Haysville couple of miles SW of Wichita, just across the turnpike,,,,, we usually go there for Easter,,,, will have to look you up if we dont GTG sooner!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh BTW If I'm coming I would be driven my truck and bringing my usual road quiver 440, 460, 066,,,, nuff said?????

Send me a PM when you head up, maybe we can get TopJimmiy to come down and play as well, he's not but 20 miles away and I have yet to meet him even!!!

If you can behave, I guess you can come to Casey, but you have to behave!!!:greenchainsaw:

An angled back cut will not keep a tree from barberchairing. Bore cutting or side notching would be better if it has a heavy lean.
Also the more angle in the back cut the less effective wedges are. It is better to keep the back cut at a right angle to the tree.

Will do!!!!

That is correct sir. I was thinking about that today actually.

I've also still been thinking about "triggertroll." :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

And still giggling like a little girl.

Awesome, Hey does your splitter hinge and stand up vertically for really big stuff you dont want to or cant pick up???? Great pix

I know...see, the thing is....I HATE painting.

Hopefully when we sell the house no one will notice.

Besides, we llike the look of natural wood, the inside is the same way.

Hey RB!!!!!!

No, horizontal only. If I cant lift it up on there it gets split with the saw first. That piece on there is 29" diameter x 18" wet Silver maple.

Did you notice tha size of the chunk of wood in the splitter????????

Hey If Casey dont want to paint,,, I'm Good with that!!!!! THey got a name for dudes like him down in Southwest La./East TX That would be,,,, "Mr. Kujo Daddy" or Just,,,,"Big Daddy" :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Hahaha, I lifted that round onto the splitter.....Thats not a smile on my face, its a grimmace because one of my nuts is on the ground!!

I'm here!!!

I have a question for ya, on angling the back cut. I was told that if I cut it at a downward angle and it did barberchair, the stupm would catch the splinter and keep it from comming back to me. Might loose the bar, but you live. What am I missing?
Andy

Never done it myself Andy, but if a tree has the energy to barberchair, it's gonna blow through an angle on a stump. Now, a small dbh tree, say less than 10", it might catch it, but in timber, it's gonna either split or crack the stump, crack the trunk again to get past the stump, or jump the angle. Keep your backcut level. There's never a reason not to. Even on an extreme leaner, like over a river or something like that. Use a bore cut on a larger tree, and on a smaller tree, your saw should be able to keep up with it in the back cut.

A tree of the size you dealt with yesterday, I'd gone with the bore cut. It's a nice tool to have in your tool bag. But I wasn't there and friends don't say "told ya so" when they weren't there themselves. ;)

Thank you Jeff, I am not competent enough to try a bore cut with the 32" yet!! I am just geting comfortable doing it with an 18". And with Hedge, I can't imagine how hard that would have been on things!!! Think about the hardest tree you have ever cut, and quadruple it, it's that nasty!!! This tree was a series of four trees that had grown together, as I blocked it chunks fell off as I cut through them, not a pretty scene!!! I wish mama hadn't taken the camera!!!
Andy

Codom?

It was solid about two feet up, but loose chunks stuck together on up, yeah, it was real ugly!!
