yah. this could end up being the warmest December on record for us. I find myself digging through the wood pile for poplar and maple, and setting the oak and locust aside. So much for my stacking "species by the month" theory.

Same here.:biggrinbounce2:

Yip

It's been a very mild year. I'm already up to almost 2 full cord. Maybe a little more than that. 7600 sq ft., the ends of the house are cool:popcorn: for sure. That's with a basement, so nobody think my house is huge or anything. The basement mirrors the upstairs, it's cheaper to heat the basement and upstairs then just up...

So let's assume that you have a basement, ground floor and upstairs for a total of 3 levels. At 7600 total square feet, that makes the living area over 5000 square feet!!!! Even at one level of living area that would be 3800 square feet of living space. That's a HUGE house. Either you're whacked out of your mind or you suck at math.  :jawdrop: :dizzy: :hmm3grin2orange:

It's 3800 dude. It doesn't really seem that big when you live here though. You know how it is. My grandfather built it, hence, I didn't have a choice on size eh??? lol :jester:

Especially when you start giving each chainsaw it's own bedroom.:hmm3grin2orange:

I heat only with wood now and the oil truck only comes twice a year to top me off for hot water. We burn a Regency I2400 insert 24/7, 1500sq. ft. open floor plan with aloft and I have used about two cords so far and will probably use six plus cords all together by this spring. Its been warmer than usual and I have not burned as much as I did last year, when it gets read cold I burn about six cubic feet per day so a cord lasts me about twenty days give or take. So far its been a cake walk with mild temps :biggrinbounce2: that leaves more for next year, I have the only house in the neighbor hood with the skylight open in December to let some of the heat out, over 75degrees just puts me to sleep, wood heat has spoiled me rotten

Is AlGore Correct ?

2 wood stoves for both parts of the place: 24/7 wood heat.
By this time we are usually close to 1/3 of the 5-6 cords/winter. Now barely used 1 cord (REAL CORD= 128 cu ft). The ground is soft, wet, unsuitable for harvesting next winter's firewood or doing need T.S.I. for the commercial cutting. Freezing rain, barely above freezing.
Geez, is the AlGore right ? :greenchainsaw: It's inconvenient. :sucks:

Most winters we go through about 6 cords. Unless the temp is below 36 F it is to warm to burn wood so I doubt if we have used a 1/2 cord yet.. This warm weather is killing my wallet as we have to burn oil.

About 1 1/2 cord in the house and 1/2 cord in the barn. Can't believe the warm weather. Usually I've burned at least 4 cords by now just in the house.

Hmmm....just started restocking my porch from the woodshed. I have gone through 2 ricks measuring 6.5' x 12' x 16". Unless I miscounted toes and fingers that comes to right at 1 1/2 cord. Usually plan on 5-6 cord/year. May do better as the weather is wierd this year.

Raining like a cow/flat rock right now when it should be snowing (glad it isn't at this rate), temps headed for 43 today vice normal 33.
