What does "Will not split dry gun have to hull it off mean"?

I would probably buy it if the motor is not frozen. The parts are worth $200.00 easily. I just bought a used piston with a 41" stroke for $75.00 and I stole that. Tires are cheap and it is a stand-alone unit. Mine is a 3 point hitch setup and runs off the tractor. It cost me around $350-400.00 to build mine. Check the motor out and go from there. There should be nothing wrong with the pump and valve. Mine has been stored outdoors for over 20 years with no ill effects. Can you get a picture of it?

It will not split dry gum in the center like oak. Gum is string like does not split, it tears a part when green. Hull is starting from the out side of tree and work around it . Taking a small section each time. I do not have a camera and to be honest I do not know how to up load

I'd buy it. You could pick up two used car tires real cheap for it. My splitter is a 15 ton homemade that won't split knotty ash unless I hull it off. I have had problems splitting 20-24" diameter oak also. But I expect that to be a problem with only 15 tons of pressure. I wish I could find a stand-alone for $200.00 around here.

Splitting knots goes a bunch better if you can split through the middle of the knot (radially) from the bottom of the tree toward the top.
